Just Because You Are Saved Doesn't Mean You Will Sin Less

Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

I saw this heretical meme on Facebook today and refuted it. Of course, the original poster laughed at my truthful comments. Jesus admonished all of us in our text passage of Scripture to BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS!!! I properly added the cancellation circle as a warning.

Kindly said, that is blatant heresy! There is not one place in the Bible which teaches that just because you are saved you will sin less. Now, the Bible teaches that you “should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world...” (Titus 2:12b).

The Bible is full of real life examples of saints who lived horrible lives of sin—from the trail of collateral damage left by the sordid lifestyles of Samson and Solomon, to Demas forsaking Paul on their missionary journey, “having loved this present world” (2nd Timothy 4:12b).

1st Corinthians 3:15, “If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” This born again man was so selfish and sinful that he received no rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ; yet he was safely saved.

In the carnal church at Corinth, there was a Christian couple openly living in fornication (1st Corinthians 5:1-5). The Apostle Paul heard rumors while evangelizing in another city and he was disturbed by them. So, Paul writes his first Epistle to the church elders to rebuke them for not dealing with the matter. Please notice that nowhere does the Bible teach in 1st Corinthians 5:1-5 to KICK SINNERS OUT OF CHURCH. Sadly, this is the popular interpretation that is often attributed to this passage. What saith the Scripture? How should a local church deal with a member who chooses to commit open sin and refuses to repent? 1st Corinthians 5:5, “To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”

Sexual sins have historically led to Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STD's). In fact, entire societies have been ruined because of outbreaks of syphilis. I humbly believe that is what Paul is referring in 1st Corinthians 5:5. The loose woman with whom the man was sleeping had formerly been his father's wife. That means she was shacking-up with multiple partners and inviting STD's, just like the tens of millions of fornicators in American society today.

By the way, the controlled media has sinfully ignored the truth concerning the murder of Gabby Petito by her boyfriend Brian Laundrie in 2021. She was shacking-up with her boyfriend in the back of a van while driving around the country for several months. That is wickedness! It's not young love. It's not cute or sweet. They were unlawfully living together like husband and wife, butt naked in Gabby's van sleeping together, living in fornication. It doesn't surprise me one bit that it all ended in disaster! Hebrews 3:13, “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

The inspired King James Bible elaborates on how to treat a church members who lives in open wickedness in 2nd Thessalonians 3:14-15, “And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.” The Greek word for “company” in verse 14 is sunanamignumi, which means “to mix up.” The Bible is telling us not to become closely associated with professed Christians who choose to live sinful lives.

That doesn't mean to avoid someone because they watch 'The Simpsons' on television; but rather, a saint who (for example) is a drunkard, an adulterer or a known thief (i.e., they are choosing to commit open sin, which is evil). They should feel ashamed if they are living in open sin. I do believe that homosexuals can be Christians, but the Bible commands us to avoid closely associating with them so that they may be ashamed. It is never okay for a redeemed child of God to continue living an open lifestyle of sinning.

I agree that if a person can sin without any conviction whatsoever from the Holy Spirit, then that person is not saved. God is not an absent parent, He does lovingly scourge and chastise His children (Hebrews 12:6-8). The Epistle of 1st John was not authored by God to determine if others are saved; but rather, if we are saved (1st John 5:13).

The test is not if we have departed from sin. NO ONE has ever been able to live above sin (Romans 7:14-25), we can only try to live above reproach (1st Timothy 5:24).

 

One of the GO-TO Scripture passages that the Lordship Salvation crowd use is 1st John 3:8-9, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1st John 3:9 is not teaching that believers won't sin. The Bible is saying that the indwelling Holy Spirit within us cannot sin. When we sin, we do so because we choose to walk in the flesh, but we are commanded as believers to walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).

There is an old adage: Where there is fire there is smoke. I heard Pastor R.A. Torrey use that adage to teach that if you are saved there will be some evidence of it in your life. However, I don't like that adage at all in that illustration. Candles do not produce any smoke. Smoke is caused by a lack of oxygen. Any firemen can tell you that a fire can still be active without showing any signs of it. A fire can smolder for hours inside a wall without producing any smoke. Likewise, just because you have the blessed Holy Spirit living inside you, doesn't mean that there will be visible evidence for others to see. That is why Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Jesus wouldn't have told us to let out light shine to glorify God, unless it were possible for us not to do so.

Dear reader, just because you are a born again child of God, doesn't guarantee that you will sin less from now on. Many believers choose to live sordid lives of sin and wickedness. Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) gets it exactly right in this helpful sermon titled, “YOUR SALVATION DID NOT CHANGE YOU A BIT.” Every new convert must be mentored by a local Bible-believing church. After all, this is the second part of The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

The first part of The Great Commission is to preach the Gospel to lost sinners, leading them to place their faith in Jesus Christ. The second part is to indoctrinate new converts with the truths of God's Word after they get saved, so that they can go win more people to Christ. The idea is to perpetuate the Gospel of free grace. It is a bad thing when we hear Baptist preachers bragging about the 200,000 people which they allegedly led to Christ (which is what I heard missionary Steven Heidenreich arrogantly claim).

Kindly said, Mr. Heidenreich didn't bother to mention how many of those alleged “converts” are serving Christ today, if any. The fact is that I do not know how many of those people were actually saved, but it is obvious that he didn't bother to follow-up with those supposed converts. I have never boasted of how many people my ministry has led to Christ over the past 23 years, since I humbly started my Jesus-is-Savior.com website ministry in 2002.

My point here is that fulfilling The Great Commission requires more than just preaching the Gospel. Our blessed Savior said that we should also be, “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...” The reason why millions of believers today are not attending church and living carnal lives, is simply because today's backslidden horrible pastors don't care enough about people to go knock on their door to invite them to church, and to have the courage to preach from the pulpit against sin, and to earnestly contend for the faith. The average Baptist pastor today merely cares about his next paycheck! I can name a handful of pastors who are pathetic and have no business being clergy. They don't care!

Beware of the Devil's deceived Lordship Salvation gang, who insist that you cannot be saved and continue living in sin. The truth is that everyone still lives in sin. I don't care how good you may think you are friend, you are still a dirty sinner, and so am I. We all deserve to go directly to Hell to burn forever! Thankfully God has made a way of escape, through faith in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:9).

Beware Of Deadly False Prophet Dan Corner

Please understand that I don't condemn anyone, for the Bible condemns all of us as guilty, dirty, rotten, hell-deserving sinners (Romans 3:10-23). My salvation solely rests in Christ's imputed righteousness (Philippians 3:9), because of the precious blood that He shed for our sins (1st Peter 1:18-19). My intention is not to be unkind, but to expose false teachings that ensure men's lost souls will remain damned to the Lake of Fire forever. Without faith alone in Jesus Christ there is no hope of eternal life.

Daniel D. Corner, founder of Evangelical Outreach, Washington, Pennsylvania, is a dangerous false prophet! Mr. Corner denies the Eternal Security of the believer and teaches a blatant false gospel of Works Salvation. False teachers must be exposed (Titus 1:9-14).

Mr. Corner has written two popular books titled: "The Myth Of Eternal Security" and "The Believer's Conditional Security." Corner is associated with the Jesus Is Lord Ministries International, Word Broadcasting Network and the satellite, Reformation Channel. These media conduits feature various heathen Anglo-Catholics, Wesleyan/holiness ministers, revivalists and charismatic preachers.

Beware! Dan Corner propagates his heresy to millions of naïve people. The internet is saturated with lies and “doctrines of devils.” What saith the Scripture? 1st Timothy 4:1, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” Dan Corner has corrupted the simplicity that is in Christ and teaches doctrines of devils. The Bible teaches the Eternal Security of the believer, which is the only conclusion you can make if you believe Romans 4:5, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

Dan Corner Corrupts 1st Corinthians 6:9-10

1st Corinthians 6:9-11 is one of the most misunderstood and misapplied Scriptural passages in the Bible...

1st Corinthians 6:9-10, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Deceitfully, Dan Corner and other enemies of Eternal Security fail to quote the next verse...

1st Corinthians 6:11, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

When you repent of your unbelief and believe on Jesus Christ alone, the righteousness of God is IMPUTED to you. To be saved, You Need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Once saved, you are no longer viewed as an adulterer, murderer, et cetera. You are now and forever viewed as being perfect in Christ. Every believer's sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus; therefore, no one who is born again could ever lose God's free gift of salvation. The spiritual birth is as irreversible as the physical birth. When God beholds the believer, He sees the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

IMPUTATION is the missing doctrine in Dan Corner's demonic theology. Opponents of Eternal Security fail to understand that man's salvation rests in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, and not one's own self-righteousness...

1st Corinthians 5:21, “For he [God the Father] hath made him [God the Son] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

We don't go to Heaven because we live a life of obedience and faith; but rather, because we have trusted in the righteousness of Jesus Christ to forgive our sins...

Acts 10:43, “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”

Dan Corner teaches that salvation can be lost if believers willfully commit sin. If that's the case, then every Christian is unsaved because we all sin every day!!! Corner has even written a book teaching that one's salvation is CONDITIONAL upon living an obedient life to Christ. Yet, Mr. Corner deceitfully claims that salvation is still by God's grace. It can't be both ways! Dan Corner speaks out of both sides of his mouth. Salvation cannot be by grace and works... Romans 11:6, “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”

Salvation is either freely offered (Romans 10:13) by God's grace and freely received (Revelation 22:17) as a gift because of Christ's blood sacrifice (1st Peter 1:18-19); or else salvation is conditional as Dan Corner teaches and works are a necessary part of salvation, but it absolutely cannot be both.

Please do not be deceived, salvation has nothing to do with the life we live. That would be self-righteousness!!! Romans 4:5 quickly silences Dan Corner and those who agree with him... "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." A man's faith is COUNTED for righteousness. Salvation is a gift, Not a Reward. Dan Corner is WRONG!

The Damnable Heresy of Dan Corner

Dan Corner is an aggressive false prophet who vehemently hates the Biblical teaching of Eternal Security. The following garbage is quoted from Mr. Corner's website...

True grace teaches us to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives (Titus 2:12). In contrast, there exists a false and dangerous "grace" message which gives a license for immorality (Jude 4) and breeds arrogance through a false security (Rom. 11:19-23).

The biblical doctrine of Eternal Security does not give a believer God's permission to sin. Romans 6:15 plainly teaches that the born-again believer is NO LONGER UNDER THE LAW; yet is still expected to fulfill the Law... "What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid." But fulfilling the Law is a result of the fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and NOT a prerequisite or requirement for salvation. A changed life is NOT the result of repentance, which would be Lordship Salvation. A changed life is strictly a matter of service and discipleship, and not of salvation and sonship. One thing has nothing to do with the other. I love what Pilgrim's Progress book author John Bunyan said:

“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” [emphasis added] —Evangelist John Bunyan (1628-1688)

Amen and amen!

Again in Romans 3:31 we read, "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Just because sinners are saved without works (Romans 3:20) does not give anyone permission to sin. Opponents of Eternal Security make the mistake of placing the cart before the horse, i.e., they expect people to continually forsake their sins to guarantee salvation, but it's the other way around—we depart from our sins because we are saved and love the Lord (John 14:15).

And to clarify, it is possible for a born again believer to choose to live like the Devil, and yet be 100% safe and secure in God's promise of eternal life by faith alone in Jesus. We are saved because of Jesus' goodness, and not because of our goodness (Isaiah 64:6). Even the best of Christians still sin and are unable to completely escape the sin-nature. The Apostle Paul clearly had sin problems in his personal life...

"For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?"

I dare say many believers today are as faithful to the Lord as the Apostle Paul, yet he struggled horribly with sin on a daily basis. Interestingly, Paul never once mentioned losing his salvation. This is clear evidence that Eternal Security is biblical and no believer ever needs to fear losing the salvation which God promised before the world began to them that believe (Titus 1:2; 1st Corinthians 1:21). John 3:17 tells us that Jesus didn't come into the world to condemn humanity, but to save sinners. JESUS SAVES SINNERS!

Here once again is Dan Corner's heresy...

A true Christian (or righteous person) can die spiritually because of sin (Ezek. 33:18; Rom. 8:13; James 1:14-16; Lk. 15:24; etc.) fall away (Lk. 8:13; Heb. 6:4-6; etc.) and never again return to Jesus, just as the Apostle Judas Iscariot and Solomon didn't return after they turned from the faith.

There is NO biblical evidence that Judas was ever saved. The Bible says Judas was a known thief (John 12:6). Solomon was a Christian, clearly evidenced by his writings in the book of Ecclesiastes. There is no reason to doubt that Solomon went to Heaven, although it is abundantly clear that Solomon, as wise as he was in a worldly sense, foolishly abandoned the Lord for most of his life. Judas, on the other hand, never showed any evidence of being saved. Many religious people follow Jesus today, but they are as lost as the Devil. Being a follower of Christ is not biblical salvation (Matthew 7:21-23).

Dan Corner further writes:

A true Christian (or righteous person) doesn't have to "practice" sin, such as adultery or murder, before they lose their salvation, since it only takes one act of adultery to make a person a Bible-defined adulterer (Lev. 20:10) and one act of murder to make him a Bible defined murderer (Number 35:16). Rev. 21:8 is clear in stating such people are headed for hell because of their sins. David is a clear example of a righteous man who lost his salvation for a time, due to adultery and murder.

Nowhere in the Bible are we warned that committing sin can result in lost salvation. Yet, Dan Corner perverts the Scripture and foolishly teaches that committing even one sin can rob us of our salvation. King David DIDN'T lose his salvation and there's NO Scriptural evidence to support Corner's heresy. In Psalm 51 David asked God to restore "the joy of thy salvation"; David didn't ask to get his salvation back.

We are not saved by works (Eph. 2:8,9) but to reap eternal life and not destruction you must sow to please the Spirit and not the sinful nature (Gal. 6:8,9). God is faithful to us (1 Jn. 1:9; 1 Cor. 10:13) but we must be faithful to him to the very end of our lives to escape the lake of fire or second death (Rev. 2:10,11). God surely loves us (Jn. 3:16; Mk. 10:21; Rom. 8:35-39) but those who inherit the kingdom of God love God (Jam 2:5; 1 Cor. 2:9) and to love God means to obey his commands (Jn. 14:15; 1 Jn. 5:3).

Clearly, Dan Corner teaches a works-based salvation, requiring obedience to Christ and holy living as absolute essentials to obtain eternal life. Such false teaching negates the gift of God. Dan Corner is a deceiver. Despite his claim that salvation is not by works, he clearly requires works when he mandates righteous living, obedience and remaining faithful as being essential to salvation. In sharp contrast, consider the words of Romans 4:5, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Either salvation is by GRACE or it's by WORKS. It cannot be both... "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work" (Romans 11:6). What part of Romans 4:5 and 11:6 doesn't Dan Corner understand?

Dan Corner Perverts the Meaning of Romans 8:13

Dan Corner twists the meaning of Romans 8:13 to mean that sinful believers can lose their salvation...

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” —Romans 8:13

However, Galatians 5:25 plainly evidences that a person can LIVE IN THE SPIRIT (i.e., be saved); while failing to WALK IN THE SPIRIT (i.e., live for the Lord)...

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” —Galatians 5:25

Sadly, Dan Corner falls short of 2nd Timothy 2:15. He simply does not study! Corner teaches that a believer can lose salvation and must repent in order to get saved AGAIN. There are NO Scriptures to support his false doctrine. Again, I am not exposing Dan Corner; but his false teachings, because they are a road to Hell.

The Bible contains numerous examples of CARNAL believers who deliberately chose to live in sin, horrible sin. King David was a "man after God's own heart" (1st Samuel 13:14); yet he commit adultery with Bathsheba, impregnated her, and then murdered her husband to hide his sin (2nd Samuel 11). Noah got drunk (Genesis 9:21). Samson had sex with a prostitute (Judges 16:1). Jonah ran from God (Jonah 1:3). Peter cursed the name of Jesus and used profanity (Mark 14:71). One-third of the Bible was written by murderers: Moses, David and Paul (formerly Saul of Tarsus). With the exception of Paul, Moses and David were already saved when they commit murder. Corner foolishly teaches that all these believers LOST their salvation and needed to get saved again. Corner is a heretic!

Corner Perverts Luke 15:24

Corner attempts to use Luke 15:24 to teach that a believer can be repeatedly saved, “For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.” There is NOTHING in the account of The Prodigal Son to indicate that Jesus was speaking about a believer who had gone into sin and lost salvation. Corner makes that erroneous assumption!

In John 3:3 Jesus proclaimed, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The Bible never speaks of losing one's salvation or of being born again and again and again. Romans 8:9 states, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Every believer has the Holy Spirit indwelling their body. That Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus Christ and God the Father. To teach that salvation can be lost is to claim that God is not faithful.

Dan Corner teaches that a believer MUST ENDURE 'til the end to be saved. This is unbiblical. Enduring or persevering is a good work. Titus 3:5 states, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” Yet, critics of Eternal Security claim that works of righteousness are necessary for salvation. They are liars! We are saved by the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ!

To claim that the prodigal son pictures a believer losing salvation is to twist and corrupt the Scriptures.

Dan Corner Corrupts The Meaning of Hebrews 12:14

Dan Corner horribly perverts Hebrews 12:14, by alleging that the Author of Hebrews was teaching that a believer must continue in holy living in order to go to Heaven. LIES! The Word of God is adamantly clear in Romans 4:5, "But to him that WORKETH NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

Here is a correct interpretation of Hebrews 12:14 by the Bible-teacher, Oliver B. Greene...

'Verse 14: "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."

This injunction has been so often misunderstood and misapplied that many believers who have endeavored to live holy lives have been tormented and discouraged, thus becoming useless as good stewards, good soldiers in God's great army.

The Greek word here translated "follow" means "to pursue, to follow after." Many believers have been taught from the pulpit that if they do not live above sin - (meaning "sinless perfection") - they cannot hope to see God...

It is not through perfect peace and perfect holiness that we see the Lord: it is by grace through faith! When we have been saved by God's grace, we are to pursue peace and holiness; but we see Jesus because we are covered by the blood and saved by His marvelous grace...

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." We note here our attitude concerning our fellowman, and also our disposition toward God the Father who loved us, and Jesus the Son who saved us.'

Hebrews 12:14 is speaking about our influence upon other people. If we don't pursue peace with others, and live holy lives, then lost sinners WON'T see the Lord in us. You are the only Jesus someone knows. That person may go to Hell if they don't see the Lord in you. As believers, we are supposed to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). Jesus said in Matthew 5:13... "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted?..." Do you know what salt does to people? It makes them THIRSTY! Christians are supposed to be the salt of this sinful world, that cause lost sinners to thirst for God. Have you lost your saltiness, i.e., savor? This is what Hebrews 12:14 means.

In sharp contrast, Dan Corner corrupts Hebrews 12:14, claiming that a person cannot see God unless they continue in holy living. Mr. Corner perverts this Scripture to mean that one's salvation is dependent upon holy living. Clearly, Daniel Corner is a false prophet who doesn't understand the inspired Word of God. He is an unsaved heretic, a modernist, who pretends to be a Christian. Dan Corner is not saved.

Hebrews 12:15 Explains Verse 14

Hebrews 12:15, "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled." This Scripture warns us that we have the potential to cause others to sin. A believer who lives in unrepentant sin influences others for evil, like a poison.

Hebrews 12:15 speaks of a "root of bitterness." This Scripture is a quote from Deuteronomy 29:18 in the Old Testament... "Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood." Thus, when a believer sins, it often causes other believers to fall by the wayside. There's no better example of this than the false prophet, Balaam, in the Old Testament.

Clearly, we see that Hebrews 12:14 refers to our Christian influence upon others; and NOT to our personal salvation.

What Does Hebrews 10:26,27 Mean?

A Lame Accusation Against Eternal Security

Romans 3:31, “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” Most opponents of Eternal Security accuse us of believing that a person can believe on Christ and then go live in gross immorality with no fear of judgment. That is not true. 2nd Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” So you see, every believer must one day stand trial before God at the Judgment Seat of Christ and give account for the good AND THE BAD they have done. No one has God's permission to sin, but we DO have a license! A believer can, if they wickedly choose to do so, live in open sin and still have the assurance of Eternal Security. To claim otherwise is to link one's salvation with self-righteousness.

However, to corrupt the Gospel into damnable heresy by requiring believers to maintain a holy lifestyle of obedience in order to remain saved is blasphemy. This is what the opponents of Eternal Security have done. It is otherwise known as "Lordship Salvation." I don't know anyone who believes in Eternal Security who is excited over the idea that they can indulge in sinful living without fear of judgment. There WILL BE judgment, but it will be at the Judgment Seat of Christ; and not The Great White Throne of Judgment, which will only be for the unsaved (Revelation 20:11-15).

When you think about it, the very fact that God has set apart a judgment entirely for the saved is evidence by itself that believers DO NOT lose their salvation. 1st Corinthians 3:15, “If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” Many believers will receive no rewards in Heaven, and will cry tears of agony and remorse over their wasted lives. 1st Thessalonians 4:6, “That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.” Every believer will give account to God for the GOOD and the BAD.

Hebrews 12:6-8 tells us that God scourge and chastises His children. It doesn't say He disowns them. In fact, Hebrews 13:5 promises us that God will never leave nor forsake His children. God is a faithful God Who keeps His promises (1st Corinthians 1:9).

Salvation is a promise from God—a gift paid for by the literal precious blood of Jesus Christ. 1st Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” It is unbiblical to require people to live a holy life as a requirement for salvation. It is a false gospel. Corner spits on the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. There is NOTHING we can do to merit or lose salvation. JESUS PAID IT ALL!!!

When will men learn that salvation is of the Lord? The problem is that people like Dan Corner confuse the ROOT of a believer's faith with the FRUIT of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Please read: Are We Justified by faith and Works? The Apostle Paul speaks of the ROOT of Abraham's faith in Romans 4:5; but the Apostle James speaks of the FRUIT of the believer's faith in James 2:18-21. The fruit is a result of genuine repentance; and not a part of saving faith. In other words, we don't give up our sins to get saved; but rather, we give up our sins because we are saved. To require the fruit as part of saving faith is the lie of Lordship Salvation and a damnable heresy.

Dan Corner's False Teaching On Sin

Dan Corner teaches that certain sins, e.g., adultery and murder, are worse than other sins and will cause a believer to lose salvation and go to Hell. There is nothing in the Bible to indicate that committing certain sins will cause a believer to lose salvation. All sin is horrible in God's eyes (James 2:10). Mr. Corner wrests the Scripture and makes many inferences where the Bible does not make any direct statements to support his wild theories.

I was listening to one of Dan Corner's radio interviews in which it was said that if a Christian man was shot in the act of adultery, while in the very bed of adultery, that he would go to Hell because he would have died before he had a chance to repent. Folks, that is crazy! Is our salvation that insecure? Can you imagine? If we risk losing our salvation every time we commit certain sins, then it is a Works Salvation. Dan Corner is bad news!

The mighty Bible teacher and man of God Dr. Harry Ironside made the following excellent statement...

“People try to put guards around that truth and say, 'Yes, you are justified by faith if you have enough good works to add to it.' That is not true. It is by faith alone, and good works spring from that. When you know you have eternal life, you will find your heart so filled with love for Christ that you will try to live for His glory.”

Amen! The false teaching that salvation can be lost makes salvation an uncertainty. How much sin can a person commit before losing salvation? What a horrible way to live, being in constant fear of losing salvation if we cross certain sinful lines in our life. This is 100% Works Salvation, which is of the Devil. Whereas the Bible teaches that the believer is secure in the gift of eternal life which is rooted in God's unconditional love (Romans 5:8) and the righteousness of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:3,4), opponents of Eternal Security place salvation in the hands of men, where it is sinfully rooted in self-righteousness. We are saved by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS; and not our own.

Dan Corner attempts to use the Scripture to teach that certain sins will cause a believer to lose salvation. 1st John 5:16, “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.” However, the very next verse thwarts Corner's heresy... “All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.” Did you read that? ALL SIN is unto death (Romans 6:23). So what does 1st John 5:16 mean?

The wonderful thing that sets biblical Christianity apart from the religions of the world is that our salvation is based upon God's unconditional love, mercy and grace (John 3:16). In sharp contrast, Muslims, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus and a host of other religions teach that men can only do their best, through good works and self-sacrifice, and hope they've been good enough to merit Heaven. Biblical Christianity is rooted in God's unconditional love and the righteousness of Jesus Christ; whereas, the world's religions are rooted in hypocrisy and self-righteousness.

Opponents of Eternal Security are Self-righteous

Those who deny the Eternal Security of the believer are self-righteous hypocrites. Dan Corner thinks he's not as sinful as adulterers, murderers and homosexuals, but he is and he needs to get saved! Please read: 'Who's The Biggest Sinner?' If salvation can be lost, then we're all going to Hell. It is arrogance and an insult to the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ for anyone to hypocritically claim that salvation can be lost, but they haven't lost it yet because they're living a righteous life. This is exactly what Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Every time Mr. Corner says he hasn't sinned unto death he is boasting of his own self-righteousness. All sin is unto death (1st John 5:17; Romans 6:23). Dan Corner teaches that believers who are guilty of adultery, greed, murder or homosexuality are not of a pure heart and will die spiritually and go to Hell if they don't repent and get saved again. Who does Corner think he is?

Dan Corner is a self-righteous hypocrite, as are his ignorant followers. Corner is as much a dirty, rotten, hell-deserving sinner as Adolf Hitler. Yet, he thinks he's secure in his salvation because he is avoiding certain DEEP SINS in his life. He fails to realize that he's already guilty of committing every sin in the Bible... “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). According to James 2:10, Dan Corner is as guilty as the vilest sinner who spits in Jesus' face. Mr. Corner needs to stop teaching heresy and realize that we are all vile, rotten, wicked sinners who can only be saved by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!!!

Eternal Life Is The Free Gift of God

God is not a liar. God has promised salvation to all those who trust upon the name of Jesus Christ... “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” God gave us the rainbow as a token that He is an honest God Who keep His promises. Yet, those who deny Eternal Security call God a liar.

The Scriptures expose Dan Corner as a big liar. The Bible teaches that salvation is a “free gift” (Romans 5:15; 6:23). Ephesians 2:8-9,  “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” A gift means a gift, with no strings attached.

The very idea that salvation is CONDITIONAL (as Daniel Corner teaches) upon the life we live, negates the free gift of God. In John 6:29 Jesus tells us the only “work” we need to do to be saved... “Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” That's it, to BELIEVE (i.e., trust) upon Jesus to forgive one's sins. We are sinners and Jesus is the Savior. That is the simplicity of salvation.

Dan Corner is a false prophet! The inspired Word of God exposes Mr. Corner as a false teacher, because he requires self-righteous works for salvation. Adding anything to faith alone in Christ is a guaranteed road to Hell. If we are not saved by good works, then how can we be lost by bad works? Salvation is of the Lord. We are NOT saved by our own self-righteous efforts; but rather, by the righteousness of Christ Jesus. Jesus paid a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay. Thank God for the gift of His only begotten Son.

Dan Corner places a heavy burden upon sinners, teaching that their salvation is CONDITIONAL upon holy living, denying the flesh and avoiding certain sins. If this were true, then how could salvation ever be a free gift? It couldn't. By every definition of the word “gift,” it must be offered free of ANY OBLIGATION OR COMPENSATION. Carefully notice in Romans 12:1 that the Apostle Paul pleads with the believers at Rome to live for the Lord... “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Notice that Paul said it was their “reasonable service”; not their required service. 1st Corinthians 6:20 tells us that we are bought with a price, i.e., the blood of Jesus Christ. God gave the ultimate sacrifice to pay for our sins. Thus, eternal life is a free gift that does not require any compensation, obligation or prerequisites to receive it. God does remind us that He paid a great price and we ought to live for Him; but this is NOT mandatory to have the gift of eternal life.

In 1st Corinthians 5:1-5 we read about a Christian man, a member of the Church of Corinth, who was living in open fornication in the church. He was carnal and the church was also carnal (1st Corinthians 3:1). 1st Corinthians 5:5 reads, “To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” This Christian man was living in unrepentant sin and Paul said to give him over to Satan for “the destruction of the flesh,” but notice that Paul also said the man's spirit would “be saved in the day of the Lord.” He was saved and DIDN'T lose his salvation.

I recently saw a commercial on TV offering a “gift” to anyone who opens a new account at their bank. That is false advertising. If I am required to open an account to get the “gift,” then it's NOT really a gift, it is a reward. There is a big difference between a gift and a reward.

If Saved, Always Saved

There is nothing wrong with the term “Once Saved, Always Saved,” but I prefer the statement, “If Saved, Always Saved” better. If a person is genuinely saved, then there is no possible way that person could ever be unsaved. Christianity is not a philosophy that can be renounced. It is not an organization that can be resigned. It is not a business that can be dissolved. Christianity is a new birth, a supernatural act of God Almighty in response to one's faith in Jesus as the Christ. Once a sinner has been born-again into the family of God, all the hordes of Hell cannot change that. God NEVER disowns His children.

The enemies of Eternal Security fail to address Hebrews 12:6-8 where God says He chastens His children... “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.” The Bible doesn't say that God disowns His children; but rather, He chastises them. The idea that God kicks children out of His family when they sin and then requires them to forsake their sins in order to be accepted back into the family is an insult to the blood of Jesus Christ.

The Hypocrisy Of Those Who Deny Eternal Security

The biggest flaw in the thinking of Dan Corner, and others like him, is that they fail to realize just how sinful they are themselves. Dan Corner and his followers hypocritically condemn other believers who live in unrepentant sin, failing to realize that they're just as sinful in God's eyes. If salvation can be lost, then who is righteous enough to keep their own salvation? Only a self-righteous hypocrite would claim to be self-righteous enough to please God. Isaiah 64:6 puts Dan Corner to shame... "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

I thank God that my salvation is solely in the hands of my righteous Savior Jesus Christ, and not dependent upon my own rotten and sinful self-righteousness. Dan Corner's teaching are based in self-righteousness. He is no less a sinner than the adulterous believers he condemns. Dan Corner condemns other believers, whom he considers more sinful than himself, saying they've lost their salvation, but he's just as much a dirty, rotten sinner who fails to see the sinful beam in his own eye.

Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone, But By Every Word Of God

Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 8:3 in Matthew 4:4, "And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live."

Little did the Hebrews know (not even their ancestors who went through the Red Sea), that God allowed the Hebrews in the Wilderness to go hungry and suffer for 40 years to TEST THEIR FAITH. God wanted them to learn that life is more than eat, drink and be merry because someday we die.

God wanted His people to learn that living by faith (trusting God) is infinitely more important than having food to eat. That is why we read in 1st Peter 1:7-9, "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."

Most believers are naïve, thinking that God is upset or punishing them because things are so bad in their life; but the opposite is true. God is testing our faith, to teach us that unshakable faith comes from having our faith shaken. As we just read in 1st Peter 1:7-9, the problems and hardships in a believer's life are more valuable then gold that perisheth. I just checked and Gold is now selling for $2,020.37 an ounce. That's $32,325.92 per pound. Your burdens, heartaches and miseries are worth MUCH MORE than that the Bible says!

Without pain we cannot grow and learn. Faith is like the old 35 mm film, it develops in the dark. It is the bad things which happen to us that drive us to the inspired Word of God. Jesus' quotes Moses' words from Deuteronomy 8:3 in Matthew 4:4. Also in Luke 4:4, "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." Notice that we need "every word" to live by. God did not give us an incomplete Holy Bible. How We Got God's Word

We must have EVERY WORD of God if we are to live. Since all the different Bible versions today do not have the same words, they cannot all be God's inspired Word.

For example: Look how the popular English Standard Version (ESV), used by Bob Jones University and many Baptist churches today, perverts Luke 4:4, by removing "every word of God"...

KING JAMES BIBLE (KJV) - Luke 4:4, "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱."

ENGLISH STANDARD VERSION (ESV) - Luke 4:4, "And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

It's GONE, GONE, GONE!!!

I HATE the Devil's modern Bible revisions. Why, oh why, are so many Bible colleges and church pastors so woefully stupid, wicked and willfully ignorant today in this matter? Shame on Bob Jones University and Pensacola Christian College for wickedly bidding them Godspeed!

God said that we need EVERY WORD of His to live by. Half a Bible won't do. 65 books won't do. We need all 66 books! The original Bible had no chapter divisions or verse numbers. Men added those centuries later after the Bible was completed in 96 AD, to make it easier to navigate through the Scriptures. It was just a collection of 66 books.

God's Holy Spirit inspired approximately 40 men to pen the Bible verbatim as He dictated it to them. God said what He meant, and He meant what He said. I believe that those 54 men who translated the King James Bible were working with inspired texts, and they faithfully translated those ancient Hebrew, Chaldean and Greek texts, and other available Latin translations, into an English Bible for us today. I believe since they did an accurate job, we have an inspired today.

Having said that, respectfully, I fully disagree with Peter Ruckman and Gail Riplinger that God inspired the King James Bible and its 54 translators to give us a "newly inspired" Bible that supersedes the ancient texts. Since they were working with texts that were already inspired, and they faithfully translated those words into the English language, we have an inspired Bible today. There was no new inspiration given by God.

But these modern corrupt Bible perversions are NOT inspired, because Satan has tampered with them, changing thousands of words and butchering God's Word. No wonder Amos 8:11 says that God would send a famine of the Word of God in the last days, "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:" Could this be because of the wickedness of men who have perverted the Words of the living God? I do not know. But I do know that the new revised Bibles are deadly, attacking Jesus' deity, removing the Godhead, changing what it means to "repent" and in so doing perverting the very Gospel itself.

Thank God that we have an EVERY WORD Bible today in the inspired King James Bible.

Pastor Stacey Shiflett Preaches A False Gospel

Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

Thank you! Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do. The Devil is a beautiful liar. Not one verse in the inspired King James Bible teaches to repent "of your sins" or to "turn from your sins" to be saved, Hebrews 6;1 speaks of repentance from "dead works," not from sinful works. In Jonas 3;10 the Bible says that turning from evil ways is works! Jonah 3;10b, "And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way..." Tuning from sinful ways is WORKS!!! You don't turn from your sins to be saved; Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins and mine.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that you must be willing to turn away from your sins to be saved. The truth is that we all continue living in sin, saved and unsaved alike. The only thing that a person automatically gets at the time of salvation is the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit (1st John 3;24). Everything from that point forward is a separate matter of discipleship. Service is something entirely different than salvation. Discipleship is something different than sonship. 

Pilgrim's Progress author John Bunyan (1628-1688) said it best:

“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” —John Bunyan

Yes, incompetent preachers, evangelists, missionaries, chaplains, laymen and pastors everywhere nowadays are corrupting the Gospel, casting stumblingblocks before the people, damning men's souls to the Lake of Fire forever. In this blog I am going to share with you several excellent helpful quotes differentiating between SALVATION versus DISCIPLESHIP to help you see the difference. Bravo John Bunyan! Yes, Amen, that is 100% sound doctrine. We must keep service separate from salvation, lest we corrupt God's Word and cast stumbling blocks before the people. Amen, that's good stuff! The following is one of my favorite preacher quotes. Pastor M. R. DeHaan (1891-1965) said it well:

"There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness." —DeHaan, M.R., "Hebrews"; Zondervan Publishing House, 1959 (p. 117)

Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty! Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith. Turning away from sinful ways would be a work. Faith puts all of the merit where it belongs, on the object of our faith, Jesus and His work. If to “repent” means to forsake our sinful ways TO BE SAVED, but Jesus already paid for our sins by dying on the cross, then what are we repenting from? The true Gospel always points you to CHRIST; a false gospel always points to YOU.

Please BEWARE dear reader of the Devil's deadly neo-evangelical heresy today in most churches, which errantly teaches that you must be willing to stop sinning to get to Heaven. That is a counterfeit plan of salvation of partial faith in Christ plus works. JESUS PAID IT ALL! Satan's greatest weapon is to con people into living the Christian life without ever being born-again.

When the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas in Acts 16:30b: "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?," they simply answered in 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝟭𝟲:𝟯𝟭𝗮, "𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗘 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗝𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱..."

Paul and Silas DIDN'T tell the Roman jailer that he must first be willing to stop sinning to be saved. When the people asked Jesus in John 6:28b, "What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?," Jesus simply replied in 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟲:𝟮𝟵𝗯, "𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁." Jesus DIDN'T tell the people that they must first be willing to stop their sinning to be saved.

Pastor Stacey Shiflett is Teaching LIES!

Pastor Shiflett says that he won't even bother to share the Gospel with someone who isn't willing to forsake their sinning. That is so wrong, unbiblical and a bad attitude. Jesus shared the truth of the Gospel with the wicked Pharisees, trying to get them to believe to be saved. God told Isaiah to keep preaching to the rebellious people, to fatten their hearts with truth. The Bible doesn't command us as saints to preach the Gospel to some people; but rather, "to every creature" (Mark 16;15). Noah preached the Gospel to a rebellious world for 120 years, but no one listened. Pastor Shiflett is wrong to withhold the Gospel from unbelievers for whom it is intended by God.

What disturbs me is hearing a bunch of men in the audience shouting “Amen” in agreement with Pastor Shiflett's damnable counterfeit plan of salvation. The Greek word for “repent” in the New Testament regarding salvation is always either the noun form “metanoia” (a change of mind), or the verb form “metanoeo” (to think differently). In the case of Judas Iscariot who repented of his sins in Matthew 27:3, a completely different Greek word is used: “metamellomaiin” (to regret). Carefully notice that even though Judas repented of his sins, he went to Hell in his sins and unbelief to be tormented forever without rest nor hope.

Matthew 27:3, “Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.”

Judas was a child of the Devil, like so many religious people in this world. Judas was one of Jesus' followers, and in fact one of His very apostles. Unfortunately, Judas was not saved and perished in his sins and unbelief. Sadly, Judas went to Hell. Let us define some theological terms to gain a better understanding:

• penitence = sorrow for sin
• penance = making a mend for sin
• reformation = turning away from sin
• repentance = a change of mind

Judas felt sorry for what he had done (penitence), betraying Jesus, an innocent man. Judas tried to make a mend (penance), returning the 30 pieces of silver to the Pharisees. Judas was a changed man (reformation). Interestingly, the Pharisees called it “blood money,” when they were the very ones who concocted the evil plot in the first place to destroy Jesus. But in all of this Judas never repented toward God of his unbelief in Christ. Acts 20:21, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” I love what Pastor Harry Ironside (1876-1951) said about repentance:

“The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past …

Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.”

That was well said by Dr. Ironside, one of my favorite free grace Gospel preachers.

In the Gospel of John we find the word "believe" mentioned 85 times, but the word "repent" is not mentioned even once. That is because repentance is automatic, included with BELIEVING. The man who believes has also repented; the man who repents (i.e., changes his mind) has believed. That is why repentance is not mentioned even once in the Gospel of John, which according to John 20;31 is God's Gospel tract.

Peter Is NOT The Rock Upon Which The Church Was Built

Matthew 16:18, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

A common false belief, especially among Roman Catholics, is that Peter is the rock upon which the church was built.

Here is the Greek meaning of the name, Peter:

pet'-ros

Apparently a primary word; a (piece of) rock (larger than G3037); as a name, Petrus, an apostle: - Peter, rock. Compare G2786.

Here is the Greek meaning of the word in Matthew 16:18, rock:

pet'-ra

Feminine of the same as G4074; a (mass of) rock (literally or figuratively): - rock.

As we just learned, the name “Peter” means petros, “a piece of rock.” But Jesus is Petra, “the Rock.” Hence, Jesus told Peter: “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter (a piece of rock), and upon this rock (The Rock) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Most people are unfamiliar with the Greek language, so they commonly misinterpret this Scripture. This is a good example of why it helps to look up the Greek meaning of words. However, you DON'T need to be a Greek scholar to understand the Holy Bible. A simple cross reference with 1st Corinthians 3:11 would show you that Jesus alone is THE FOUNDATION of the Church...

1st Corinthians 3:9-11, “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

Jesus alone is THE FOUNDATION of the Church. Christ is also THE HEAD of the Church. 

Ephesians 5:23, “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.” Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Jesus is the HEAD and we as saints are the BODY of Christ. That is beautiful!

The Foundation Of The Apostles And The Prophets

What saith the Scripture? ...

Ephesians 2:19-22, “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”

Jesus is the undisputable foundation upon which the New Testament Church is built. The apostles and all the prophets were built upon Jesus Christ. We as believers are also built upon those foundations, Jesus being the Chief Cornerstone.

The apostles followed Jesus and after His crucifixion went their own separate ways, helping to found the early Christian church. The apostles were 12 of the disciples of Jesus who went on to spread his message and found the early Christian church. After the crucifixion of Jesus in the 1st century, they split up and began to proselytize both the message of Jesus and the concept that he was the son of God. In so doing they expanded the following of this offshoot of Judaism and set out the early tenets of what Christianity would become. Jesus said...

Acts 1:6-9, “When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.”

The “apostles” (plural) typically refers to those who were among the original followers of Jesus. The term “apostle” (singular) means "one sent on a mission." The apostles' preaching of the Gospel of free grace, and their church building efforts, laid the groundwork that shaped history and is today followed by hundreds of millions of religious people. 

Having said that, let me be very clear that Roman Catholicism is of the Devil. Satan is the foundation of the Catholic Church, not the Apostle Peter. Nor was Peter the first Pope. The Bible says that Jesus healed Peter's sick mother-in-law. That refutes the Catholic false teaching that Peter was a Pope, since he did have a wife. Matthew 8:14, “And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.”

I tell you dear friend with all biblical authority that Catholicism is a prisonhouse of religion! The only extent to which the apostle and prophets influence us today is in relation to the written Word of God. Hebrews 1:1-2, “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” God doesn't speak to humanity today through dreams, visions, Ellen G. White, the Pope nor any other means. God only speaks through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. That is, the Word of God. Revelation 19:13 says, “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.”

Miss Ellen G. White (1827-1915) is considered to be the most legendary of Seventh-Day Adventist leaders. Miss White claims to have received approximately 2,100 visions from God, appointing herself as God's end time prophet to confirm Bible prophecies. We know according to Hebrews 1:1-2 that she is a LIAR! God speaks through the inspired Word of God, not through men. Think about it. If God spoke through men and women, how would we know who is lying, or who is telling the truth?

By speaking through the Holy Bible, no one can deceive anyone else if we 'SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES' as Jesus commanded in John 5:39. 2nd Peter 1:20, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” No one can claim to have received exclusive messages from God, as sinfully did Ellen White during her lifetime. No one has a right to claim to speak for God. We all have THE SAME inspired King James Bible. No one has any special private communication from God. Cults are formed when false prophets speak in the place of God, adding to His words. Proverbs 30:5-6, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”

Romans 3:4, “God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.”

Jesus Is The Firstborn From The Dead

Also, carefully notice in Colossians 1:18 that Jesus is the FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD. We read in the Bible that some bodies of the saints resurrected from the dead when He died on the cross. Matthew 27:52-53, And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.” Did not these saints rise up from the dead before Christ? Yes, the dead. So how can Jesus be “the firstborn from the dead”?

The simple answer is that Jesus is the first person to ever be resurrected in His glorified immortal body. Those saints who raised up when Christ died on the cross, had to die again. The same is true of Lazarus, whom Jesus resurrected from the dead. Lazarus was raised up in his mortal earthly body, as were the saints at Calvary when Jesus died on the cross. They all needed to die again. But Jesus was the first person to ever be resurrected in a glorified immortal body. Jesus didn't need to die when He raised up from the dead, because He now had His perfect resurrected body. Philippians 3:20-21, “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”

So, Jesus is the mountain (The Rock) upon which Christ has built His Church. Please don't miss that! Jesus said that He, and not Peter, would build His Church! Jesus Christ alone builds His New Testament Church. John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Unless the Holy Spirit come down in power, nothing can happen. Psalms 127:1, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

Peter is NOT the Rock upon which the Church was built, Jesus Christ alone is THE ROCK!!!
