If You Don't Believe Jesus is God, Effectively You're An Atheist

Revelation 1:7-8, “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

The inspired Holy Bible teaches that Jesus is God. He is not “a god” as the cult of Jehovah's Witnesses teach, Jesus is almighty God as the Bible teaches in our text Scripture passage.

Jesus claimed to be God. John 10:33, “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” Anyone who says they believe in God, but not Jesus, is effectively an atheist. The Scripture is very clear about this matter...

1st John 2:22-23, “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.”

God came to earth incarnate, who took on the form of a man. 

John 1:1-2, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. ...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Jesus is the incarnate Word of God (cf., Revelation 19:13). He is God!

Beware of all modern English Bible revisions, because they've all been tampered with to attack Jesus' deity. The following meme is just one example, showing how the New King James Version (NKJV) has changed every mention of the universe being created “by” Jesus to “through” Jesus, which two meanings are very different. Please use only the inspired King James Bible and reject all other English versions. Thank you for reading my ministry blog.

Salvation Crystal Clear

Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

The other day someone told me about a friend who very seldom, if ever, attended Wednesday night prayer meeting. He said we were after him all the time about it. One day he told us about this man who died and went to Heaven. According to the story, God was in an office, and people were standing outside, waiting to go in. One at a time God took each of them into the office, kept him awhile and then dismissed him and called for the next one. He said this one man came out smiling. When his friends asked what he was smiling about, he laughed and said, "He's not counting Wednesday nights!"

After I had finished laughing, I said, "You know something? He's right. God does not count Wednesday nights. As a matter of fact, He doesn't even count Sunday mornings or Sunday nights. He doesn't count tithing. He doesn't even count baptism. When it comes to going to Heaven, God only counts one thing, and that is Jesus and what He did on the cross two thousand years ago.

God Does Not Count Good Works

God does not count good works in any form or fashion. The Bible says in Titus 3:5, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...." And the Scripture declares in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

There is not one verse in all the Bible that says anything about working to go to Heaven. The truth of the matter is, a man could go to church Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night every week of his life and still die and go to Hell. One does not become a Christian by getting into the church any more than one becomes an automobile by getting into the garage. Joining the church has nothing to do with going to Heaven. Once a man is saved, he ought to join a good church, a place where he can at tend, enjoy the fellowship of other believers and learn from the Bible what God expects of him, a place where he can be involved in helping to get out the Gospel. But church membership comes after salvation, and no one should ever join a church until he is first sure that he is saved.

If salvation were by works of any kind, then somewhere the Scripture would have to tell us exactly how much one must work in order to be saved. Would Sunday morning and Sunday night church services be enough, or must one go to every service, including Wednesday nights? And must one also tithe his income and give to the poor? Exactly how much work is required before a man can go to Heaven?

There is no passage anywhere in the Bible that answers the question. If a man worked in order to be saved, then the motive for the work would render it ineffective. According to I Corinthians 13, any work not motivated by love for Christ is not acceptable. Paul said in I Corinthians 13:3, "And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity [love], it profiteth me nothing." If a man worked in order to be saved, the motive for his service would not be love but fear. He would be working because he was afraid he was going to Hell, not because he loved God. Thus the motive would render the work unacceptable.

Matthew 7:22-23 makes it very clear that no one goes to Heaven on his good works. Here the Scripture says,

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Here is a judgment scene where people tell the Lord all about their good works, thinking He will let them into Heaven. But in verse 23 the Lord says, "I never knew you: depart from me." And then He calls their good works 'works of iniquity.'

Once we receive Christ as Saviour, we should set out to serve Him and do all the good works we can. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works ...." But we work because we love Him, not in order to be saved. When it comes to salvation, good works, no matter how good or how many, are absolutely futile.

Romans 11:6 says, "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." No, God doesn't count our good works. The truth in the man's story was absolutely right: God does not count Wednesday nights. Neither does He count Sunday mornings, Sunday nights or any other nights. Salvation is not a result of what we do for Christ but rather a result of what He does for us.

A man who died in a cheap hotel room in one of our great western states left a poem behind, part of which said,

I've tried in vain a thousand ways,
My fears to quell, my hopes to raise;
And all I need, the Bible says,
Is Jesus!

He went on to say,

Though some will mock, and some will blame;
In spite of fear, in spite of shame,
I'll go to Him because His name
Is Jesus!

The man who wrote the above lines had squandered a fortune in search of peace and happiness, but he never found either until he realized that Jesus Christ was all he needed and accepted Him as Saviour.

God Does Not Count Our Righteousness

If a man went to Heaven on his own righteousness, he would have to be as holy and as righteous as God Himself. And no man except Jesus Christ has ever been that righteous. God is so righteous that no man can look upon God and live. In Exodus 33:18 Moses said to God, "I beseech thee, shew me thy glory." And God replied in verses 20-23,

"Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.... Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen."

The average Christian lives and dies and never has the foggiest idea of how holy and righteous God really is. In Isaiah 6:1-3 the prophet said,

"In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory."

According to these verses, the seraphims in Heaven are flying around the throne of God singing, "Holy, holy, holy!" They could be singing, "Justice, justice, justice!" for God is just. They could be singing, "Love, love, love!" for God is love. They could be singing, "Mercy, mercy, mercy!" for God is merciful. They could be singing, "Longsuffering, longsuffering, longsuffering!" for God is longsuffering. But, no, they are singing, "Holy, holy, holy!" And the seraphims that sang, "Holy, holy, holy!" have their faces covered with two of their wings. They are not even looking upon the God they are singing about.

John 3:3 says, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Verse 5 says that he cannot enter the kingdom of God, but this verse says that he cannot see the kingdom of God. If I go to Heaven, then I must be as holy and righteous as God Himself. And I cannot be that righteous.

Isaiah 64:6 reminds us, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. . . ." In Romans 10:1-4 Paul says,

"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteous ness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Here Paul speaks of religious folks, zealous folks, but folks who do not know the way of salvation. They were trying to establish their own righteousness, not knowing that all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags in God's sight. How sad that multiplied millions of people throughout the world are trying to qualify for Heaven by living right, not knowing that their righteousnesses are as filthy rags in God's sight! They, like the people Paul wrote about, are going about to establish their own righteousness, not realizing that "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth" (Romans 10:4).

Heaven is not a reward for those who behave; it is a gift for those who believe.

My son Tony and his friend Melvin, who recently trusted Christ as Saviour, have been trying to win an older man to Christ. The man keeps insisting that he has to get better first. Melvin, a brand new Christian, demonstrated great wisdom when he said, "Dr. Hutson, the man wants to get well before he goes to the hospital."

I said, "You're right, Melvin. A man doesn't get better to get saved; he gets saved to get better."

No, God doesn't count our righteousness.

God Does Not Count Baptism

Contrary to the teaching of many when it comes to salvation, God does not count baptism. Baptismal regeneration was first taught by the Catholic church and later picked up by several other denominations. Those who think that God requires water baptism as an entrance into Heaven teach that the water washes away sins. The only thing that remits sins is the blood of Christ. Hebrews 9:22 says, ". . . without shedding of blood is no remission."

If one had to be baptized to have his sins remitted, then what would he do with the sins he committed after he was saved? Suppose a man was baptized twenty years ago. Since then he has committed many sins. Remember, no one lives absolutely perfect and above sin. First John 1:10 says, "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." Now if baptism were necessary to remit sins, then this man would need to be baptized again in order to have remitted the sins he had committed since he had been saved. But if he is baptized the second time, then what will he do with the sins he commits after the second baptism?

Of course, if water were necessary to wash away sins, then he must be baptized again and again and again. Every time he commits a sin, he would have to be baptized again to have his sins washed away. If baptism is really necessary to remit sin, then a person not only should be baptized; he should get into the baptistry and refuse to ever get out lest he commit some sin after he gets out of the baptistry and die before he can get back into the water.

If baptism does remit sins, then Jesus Himself never remitted or forgave any man of his sins because the Bible plainly says in John 4:2, "Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples." Those who teach that one must be baptized in order to be saved further teach that one can lose his salvation. Suppose a man believes in Christ, confesses Him, repents, is baptized and joins the church of the preacher who teaches baptismal regeneration. Then, accord ing to this preacher, he is saved. After a few years he goes back into sin and loses his salvation. Being disturbed about his condition, he goes back to the church and wants to be saved again. Does that same church insist that he be baptized again? No, they do not. If water baptism were necessary for salvation the first time, then how could he possibly be saved the second time without being baptized?

That is just one of the contradictions and inconsistencies of those who teach that water baptism is necessary for salvation.

If water baptism were necessary for salvation, then none of the Old Testament saints were saved because baptism was not mentioned one single time in the Old Testament, and there is no record of a single individual ever being baptized before John the Baptist began baptizing converts in the New Testament. Those who argue that baptism is essential to salvation teach one plan of salvation for those in the Old Testament and a different plan of salvation for those in the New Testament. But the Scripture teaches that all men are saved the same way in every dispensation or age.

Acts 10:43 says, "To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." Now notice very carefully: this was the message of all the prophets. The Old Testament prophets preached remission of sins by faith in Christ. The New Testament prophets preached remission of sins by faith in Christ. And those who preach the truth today are still preaching remission of sins by faith in Christ. When it comes to salvation, God did not count baptism in the Old Testament. He did not count baptism in the New Testament, and He does not count baptism today. The message today is the same message all the prophets witnessed: ". . . that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins."

What Does God Really Count

It would be almost impossible to discuss in this article the multitude of things which people believe are necessary for salvation. The Roman Catholics believe you must receive all seven sacraments. The Seventh-day Adventists believe you must keep the old Jewish Sabbath, along with the other nine commandments. The Moslems think that, if one dies defending his religion, he goes straight to Heaven.

The Scripture warns in Proverbs 14:12, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." And the Bible says in Isaiah 55:8, "... neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord." God's way of salvation is made clear in the Bible. Ephesians 2:8,9 settles the matter once and for all:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of your selves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Here the Bible says it is 'not of ourselves,' "Not of works, lest any man should boast." It is by grace through faith. Grace is the unmerited favor of God. Someone gave this acrostic for GRACE: "God's Riches At Christ's Expense." Grace and works cannot be mixed. To add any works to grace destroys grace completely. It is all of grace, or it is not grace at all. Jesus Christ came to the earth and lived a perfect, sinless life. Hebrews 4:15 says, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feel ing of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."

Second Corinthians 5:21 says, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin. . . . " While Jesus Christ was being crucified between two thieves, one thief said to the other in Luke 23:40,41, "Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss." The word amiss means "wrong." Even the thief on the cross recognized that Jesus was the sinless, spotless Son of God.

Before Pilate turned Christ over to the angry mob, he said in John 19:6, "I find no fault in him." Jesus Christ was the only person who ever lived as righteous as God Himself. And when we trust Christ, we are given His righteousness. That is the clear promise of the Bible in Romans 10:4 where the Scripture says, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." God does not count my righteousness, but He does count the righteousness of His Son.

The Bible says in Romans 4:3, "...Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." And then the Scripture further promises in Romans 4:5, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

The only way anyone can ever be righteous enough to go to Heaven is by receiving God's own righteousness by faith. Not only did Jesus Christ live a perfectly righteous life; He died a substitutionary death. Two thousand years ago God took every sin we ever have committed and all we ever will commit, and He placed those sins on Christ. Isaiah 53:6 says, ". . . the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." And Titus 2:14 says, "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity. . ."

What blessed truth! God took the iniquities of all men and laid those iniquities on Christ. But He not only took the iniquities of all men and laid them on Christ; He took all the iniquities of men and laid them on Christ. And the Bible says in I Peter 2:24, "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree. . . . " While Christ was bearing our sins in His own body, God punished Him in our place to pay the debt we owe so that, when we die, we won't have to pay it. That's what the Bible means when it says in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The other day I received a letter from a dear Jewish friend here in Murfreesboro, who reminded me that it wasn't the Jews who killed Christ. Rather, he said, "It was the Roman soldiers." Of course, this dear Jewish man was both right and wrong. He was right when he said it wasn't the Jews, but he was wrong when he said it was the Roman soldiers. It was neither the Jews nor the Roman soldiers. It was God Himself.

The Scripture says in Isaiah 53:10, "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin. . .." It was God Himself who made His (Jesus') soul an offering for sin. Romans 8:32 says, "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" The Scriptures further explain in Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." The death of Jesus Christ on the cross was an expression of God's love for us. He loved us so much that He didn't want us to go to Hell, so He punished His Son in our place to pay the debt we owe so that we can go to Heaven on a free pass.

My beloved predecessor Dr. Rice used to say, "Every man who goes to Heaven goes on a free pass, but he who goes to Hell pays his own way." And then he would quote Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Before Adam and Eve ever sinned, God demanded the death penalty. He said in Genesis 2:17, ". . . in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." God's payment for sin is death, the second death in the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14 says, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."

If we are to satisfy the just demands of a holy God, we must go into Hell and stay there forever and ever. But Jesus Himself satisfied God's demand. The prophet said in Isaiah 53:11, "He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied. . . ." Here the Scripture plainly states that God was satisfied with the payment Jesus made on the cross for our sins. He further showed that satisfaction by raising Jesus Christ from the dead and taking Him back to Heaven. If Christ had not accomplished what He came to do - ;that is, die for our sins - He would have never gone back to Heaven. But praise the Lord, He did the job!

While He was hanging on the cross He uttered seven things. The sixth utterance was "It is finished" (John 19:30). And, dear friend, you can count on it: it was finished. There is nothing else to do but to accept Jesus Christ by faith, to trust Him, to depend on Him.

The man was right: God does not count Wednesday nights. He doesn't count Sunday mornings or Sunday nights or any other nights. God does not count our own righteousness. He does not count our good works. He does not count baptism or any other ceremony or ritual. He only counts one thing: the death of His Son Jesus Christ. And the Scripture plainly says in Isaiah 53:11 that He was satisfied with the sacrifice His Son made for our sins. If Jesus Christ said it was finished and God Himself said He was satisfied, then why can't we be satisfied with Christ's death and not add anything to it?

The only way to show that you are satisfied with Christ's death for your sins is to trust Him and Him alone for salvation. If you trust anything else, then it is evident that you are not satisfied with Christ and what He did at Calvary. If you trust Jesus Christ, plus your baptism, then you are not satisfied with Christ: you must add to Him baptism. If you trust Jesus Christ plus your good works, then you are not satisfied with Christ: you must add to Him good works. If you trust Jesus Christ plus your church membership, then you are not satisfied with Christ: you must add church membership. If you trust Jesus Christ plus your reformation, then you are not satisfied with Christ: you must add your reformation.

Now, I am a church member. I have been baptized. I was baptized when I was eleven years old. I try to live right. I have been preaching since I was twenty years old. I travel every week of my life going from church to church throughout this country to preach the Gospel. As I dictate this sermon, I am driving to Lowell, Indiana. Next week I will be in Wadsworth, Ohio.

But I do none of these things to be saved. My only hope of Heaven is the fact that Jesus Christ died for me. He paid my sin debt. And I am trusting Him alone for salvation. I am not trusting my good works, my church membership, my baptism or anything else. When we stand before God, the only thing that He will count is what His Son did at Calvary.

When the children of Israel were in Egyptian bondage, God sent plagues upon Pharaoh. Finally God said, 'The firstborn in every house is going to die.' But He gave the Israelites instructions to kill an innocent lamb and sprinkle the blood on the doorposts of the house. And God promised in Exodus 12:13, "When I see the blood, I will pass over you." He did not say, 'When I see your church membership, I will pass over you.' He did not say, 'When I see your good life, I will pass over you.' He did not say, 'When I see your good works, I will pass over you.' He did not say, 'When I see your baptism, I will pass over you.' No, no, no! He said, "When I see the blood, I will pass over you." The only thing that counted with God was the death of the lamb.

And when it comes to salvation the only thing that counts with God today is the death of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. If you are counting on anything other than Jesus Christ to take you to Heaven, then you are counting on something that God doesn't count. Won't you trust Christ today? If you are not absolutely sure that there was a time in your life when you knew you were a sinner and made a definite decision to trust Jesus Christ completely for salvation, then we urge you to trust Him now.

Study The Proverbs With Pastor Harry Ironside

Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

I found a helpful and wonderful resource recently. Pastor Harry Allan "Harry" Ironside (1876-1951) published commentaries on the Book of Proverbs, including "Notes on the Book of Proverbs" in 1908. We all need God's wisdom.

Notes On The Book Of Proverbs

There are two ways of learning the emptiness of the world and the true character of sin. The most common way is to tread the thorny path oneself and thereby taste fully the bitterness of departure from God. The more desirous way is to accept His Word regarding the character of sin. This enables the obedient disciple to say, “Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer” (Psalm 17:4).

The bitter disappointments, the skeptical darkness, and the weary heart of Solomon, a result of trusting his own wisdom, are strongly delineated in the record of the tempests of his soul. This confusion need never be the portion of the child of God who orders his steps in the truth.

I also encourage you at least weekly to listen to the Book of Proverbs. I like to hear Alexander Scourby (1913-1985) read the King James Bible. It just takes 1 hour and 46 minutes to hear the entire book. ...

Something that I love about how God authored the Book of Proverbs is that those nuggets of wisdom really stick in your brain in the days and weeks to follow. If you have listened to the entire book of Proverbs, then you know what I mean. It's an amazing phenomena. I cannot explain it, I just know that whenever I listen to the Proverbs (or any Scripture for that matter), the Holy Spirit brings them to remembrance in the days, weeks and months to follow.

John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Holy Bible is not just another book, it is a Living Book according to Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The word “quick” means alive. John 6:63, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” The Word of God is alive because they are words inspired (breathed out) by the Holy Spirit of God. No manmade book can make that claim!

Is God's Command For Women Not To Wear Pants In Deuteronomy 22:5 Ceremonial Law?

Deuteronomy 22:5, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

On April 30th, 2025, at the shameful Family Baptist Church in Pensacola, I and my wife Alice were horribly mistreated by Pastor Brad Moffett in his office. We are both old enough to be his parents, but he showed us zero respect. I and Alice had been invited into his office for a very different purpose, but the pastor instead chose for whatever reason to spend that time censuring my website ministry. It is obvious to me that Brad's wife henpecked him to do what he did. Pastor Brad's wife pressured him to scold the elderly man “Bobby” who lives across the street from the church. Bobby was so hurt and offended that he quit church because of them. They still haven't learned how to rightly treat people at Family Baptist Church in Pensacola.

During our unpleasant meeting with Pastor Brad, that he dishonestly forced upon us without warning, he defended his wife's Biblical right to where pants. Dear reader, in the 45 months that I quietly attended their church as a guest, I never once mentioned my beliefs about modesty to anyone in the church. It was them (not me) who made a fuss when they found my article on my website ministry titled, Why A Christian Lady Ought Not Wear Pants. My article cut to the heart of the pastor's wife, because God convicted her about her sexy pants.

I was reading through some of my Bible books today and ran across an old classic by Sword of the Lord founder, Evangelist John R. Rice (1895-1980), titled: “Dr. Rice... Here Are More Questions...” On pages 483-485 Dr. Rice answers the question:

“Women forbidden to wear “that which pertaineth to a man”; is it ceremonial law?

You say that you looked up Deuteronomy 22:5, 9 and 11. Then you say, “Am I wrong to believe if I keep verse 5 and never for any reason put on slacks, that also it would be wrong to wear a woman's woolen suit with linen cuffs or some trimming on the suit linin, as in verse 11?

First, let us look at those three verses you mentioned:

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” —Vs. 5.

“Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.” —Vs. 9.

“Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.” —Vs. 11.

1. Throughout the first five books in the Bible, the Mosaic law is given. Some of this is moral law and some of it is ceremonial law. For example, in Exodus 20, the Ten Commandments are give. It is quite obvious that nine of those commandments are moral law and these are repeated in one way or another in the New Testament. It is just as wrong now to worship idols, to take God's name in vain, to dishonor father and mother, to kill, to commit adultery, to steal, to lie, or to covet, as it ever was.  

But in Colossians 2:17 and 18 we are plainly told that the Sabbath days, given to the Jews and mentioned in the Ten Commandments, were nailed to the cross, a part of the ceremonial laws, “a shadow of things to come.” But even if one disagrees about the Sabbath question, in the same twentieth chapter of Exodus other ceremonial commands are given as in verse 24: “An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings . . . .” So it is wrong to say that any one chapter is all ceremonial and not binding for us—at least it is wrong to say that about Deuteronomy 22. For example, it is clearly a moral problem that a man is not to hide his brother's ox or sheep, but must tell where they are, a man must help his neighbor when his ox or ass is in trouble. Verse 30: “A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt” is clearly moral law. So chapter 22 does have some moral teachings that are binding upon us today. Of course, no one was ever saved by keeping commandments, but still the moral commandments teach what is right and Christians want to keep the commands of God that place moral obligations upon us 

2. But there is another reason for believing that Deuteronomy 22:5 is a rule that is meant for women of all times. The New Testament clearly teaches that the Old Testament laws about the relations of men and women are still binding. First Corinthians 14:34 says, “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. Here the law means, of course, the first five books of the Bible. So the same doctrine of the Pentateuch is the doctrine of the New Testament, when it comes to the relationship of men and women. Women are to be under obedience. Perhaps this refers primarily to Genesis 3:16 where the woman is told, “Thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” But certainly the implications that follow are intended also. 

In first Timothy 2:11-15 the Scripture plainly says that the Old Testament relationship between men and women is to be the same in the New Testament times. “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. 

In the case of Adam and eve, the Lord set a certain relationship between husband and wife; and women are today to maintain that same relationship. So we find that this distinction between the men and women was emphasized in the Old Testament by having men and women to dress differently, as indications of their different positions. I think it is right to believe that the same distinctions are to be maintained today again. 

In first Corinthians 11:1-6 the Bible clearly says that in the manner of wearing their hair, women and men are to be different. “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering” (vss. 14-16). And the contacts plainly says that this difference is based on the fundamental difference in men and women, because “the head of the woman is the man” (vs. 3). You see, Deuteronomy 22:5 is really just a part of the New Testament and Old Testament doctrine of the proper relationship of men and women. And a woman should show that she takes a woman's place, should show it by wearing long hair, and by wearing a woman's clothes. I hope that you will read my book on Bobbed Hair, Bossy Wives and Women Preachers (paperbound 75 cents) for further study on this matter. 

Now the commands in Deuteronomy 22:9: “Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds . . . ” has a spiritual lesson for us. It means that Christians should not yoke up with unbelievers. The same lesson is given in verse eleven. The Jew was not to wear a garment of mixed woolen and linen together, as a symbol to us that we are not to be yoked up with unbelievers. I do not say it is wrong to plant two kinds of seed in the same field. I do not say it is wrong to have two kinds of materials on a dress. That command is not repeated in the New Testament, and I think it is obviously ceremonial law. But the relationship of men and women, and making the hair, and outward dress and behavior, fit that relationship, seems to me to be a moral problem that is preached just the same in the Old Testament as the New Testament. 

I think you will see, when you go into the matter thoughtfully, that actually the modern fad of women wearing slacks, and of otherwise defying conventions, and trying to be like men, is a part of the unchristian rebelliousness of the age. It goes with unbelief and rebellion and not with the most spiritual Christianity. I think lots of good women who mean well have bobbed their hair and wear pants, and perhaps smoke cigarettes and rebel against their husbands, but they are not as good Christians as they would be if they obeyed the word of God in this matter, I think; and I think that if they mean well, they will come more and more toward the Bible pattern of obedience to husbands. obedience to the conventions which properly differentiate between the sexes and take the place of modest womanhood, as taught in the Scriptures and upheld traditionally by the best Christian women. Don't you think so?

Bravo Dr. Rice! Pastor Brad Moffett couldn't be more wrong that Deuteronomy 22:5 is ceremonial law. Brother Rice is so right, the proper relationship between men and women is reiterated in the New Testament, clearly defining how men and women are to appear in public to maintain distinction between the sexes. Only a fool would dare attempt to justify Christian women wearing pants in public. Amish females would never even consider putting on a pair of pants because they fear God. Today's Baptist females shame the name of Jesus.

Dr. Rice is correct that women wearing pants goes along with unbelief and rebellion, and not with the most spiritual Christianity. Shame on new-evangelicals for their low moral standards.

Beware Of The Toxic New IFB With Their Rapture Date Setting

Sue The Fearful Tyrannosaurus In Chicago

In Proverbs 30:30, Solomon said that a lion is the "strongest among beasts." Have you ever seen the skeleton of a tyrannosaurus up close? I have! Sue (pictured below) is a famous tyrannosaurus which is displayed publicly at The Field Museum in Chicago. Sue the Tyrannosaurus rex stands approximately 13 feet tall at the hips and is one of the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex specimens ever discovered, measuring over 40 feet long.

If such an intriguing and fearful creature existed during Bible times, I seriously don't think Solomon would have wrote that “the lion” is the strongest of all beasts. This is just one of several dozen obvious evidences that dinosaurs didn't live with mankind, and that Young Earth Creation is a fallacy.

There are many minions of Satan today who are working to undermine God's Word. They didn't do it on purpose. Like nearly all servants of Satan, they have been deceived. That is the nature of deception, that you don't even realize you've been deceived. Mark Twain said: “It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” So true!

Beware Of Deadly Religious Modernism

"Modernism" in a biblical context refers to a theological movement that seeks to reconcile religious beliefs with modern scientific and philosophical ideas, often questioning traditional interpretations of the Holy Bible. It is characterized by a tendency to view the Scripture through the lens of contemporary thought, which can lead to a diminished authority of the inspired Holy Bible in some interpretations. Modernism is of the Devil.

A good example of religious modernism is when we hear so-called "experts" on television or social media teaching that prayer is a good "therapy." No, prayer is not a therapy! When you pray, a literal real God is listening. God is a person, just like you and me, who were created in God's image (Genesis 1:26-27). I do not believe in the "power of prayer," I believe in the power of God!

Modernism Denies A Miracle Working God

Years ago I purchase Cecil B. Demille's 1956 epic movie, 'THE TEN COMMANDMENTS,' starring Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner. Most people, like me, love the scene where God parts the Red Sea. As a child, that miraculous scene captivated me when I saw it on television. The DVD movie is narrated by historian Katherine Orrison, if you choose to turn on the commentary feature. I watched the entire 2:40 hour movie twice. First, I watched it in normal mode; and then I watched it again with the commentary turned on.

I was very disturbed as I listened to Katherine Orrison's horrible lack of faith in a miracle working God. All she does throughout the entire commentary is attempt to provide plausible natural excuses to discredit the miracles of God. This is modernism, which seeks to undermine the power of God! This 1956 movie (The Ten Commandments) was the 8th highest-grossing movie in North America for 2025, adjusted for inflation, amassing a gross revenue of $2,895,000,000. Wow! Sadly, the film's historian Katherine Orrison is a modernist, who has sinfully attributed all the the miracles in Egypt to natural causes, denying God's power.

Katherine Orrison suggests that the waters in Egypt turned red due to a nearby volcanic eruption that spewed colored lava, thus changing the water's color. She then speculates that the contaminated waters drove the frogs and locusts from their natural habitat into the Egyptian's homes, and that the volcanic rocks were toxic and killed wildlife, making the rivers to stink. The fiery hail is also attributed to volcanic activity.

It is tragic that people refuse to accept the Bible as literal. The Bible tells us that the waters in Egypt were turned into literal blood, not just given a red color. The Bible says that God cursed the Egyptians with painful boils all over their bodies, which a volcano did not do. Miss Orrison's lack of faith in a miracle working God is disgraceful in a movie that meant so much to Cecil B. Demille (1881-1959).

Mr. Demille believed that God could do the IMPOSSIBLE, and the good LORD still does today. Life itself is impossible without God. Look around you and you'll see the impossible. This universe would fall apart in seconds if God stopped doing the impossible. Acts 17:25 says that God giveth to all life and breath.

Our planet Earth is speeding through space around the sun at an astounding 67,100 mph. This speed is equivalent to traveling 18.6 miles per second! You could go from the United States to the Philippines in about 7 minutes. We don't feel it because we are traveling at the same speed, going along for the ride, just as you wouldn't feel the speed of a car speeding at 100 mph if you were a passenger. It is that wonderful 67,100 mph movement of the Earth that prevents our planet from being drawn into the sun by gravity. Only God could have designed our Solar System to be so intricately balanced, orderly and maintained. Only God's omnipotent power holds our Solar System together! Only a fool would dare say that all this just happened.

There is nothing any more evil than deliberately making a movie to deny the Savior, teaching that Jesus' virgin mother Mary was raped by a Roman soldier, blaspheming the Word of God. Paul Verhoeven is going to split Hell wide open the second he dies, and at age 74 (born 1938) he's not too far away from meeting His making. What a fool. These wicked Hollywood producers and directors aren't just making movies, they're indoctrinating society and turning people away from the Lord. Hundreds-of-millions of people are going to see JESUS OF NAZARETH when it comes out, and it will led many people further into despair and doubt. Romans 10:17 says faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

And likewise, foolishness like this leads people astray as Colossians 2:8 warns, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” The word “spoil” in Colossians 2:8 is the Greek word sulagogeo which means “to lead away as booty, that is, (figuratively) seduce.” Booty is goods or money obtained illegally.

Hence, Satan wants to seduce people away from Jesus Christ through philosophy and vain deceit, through worldly established principles (such as humanism and evolution) and the traditions of men. Notice that the Bible directs us to Jesus Christ. Amen! We learn about Jesus in the Scriptures, which is exactly what Jesus said in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

I'm sick of hearing about the “therapy” of prayer. My friend, God answers prayer because He exists. Prayer is taught as a therapy because most people don't believe in a living real God who answers prayer, in a personal God who performs miracles. I know my God is real, and He can do anything! My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do!

You Can Draw Near To Your Creator

A popular new age heathen mindset in today's wicked world is to merely claim to believe that “God” exists in all of nature, as an energy force, or that God exists in all of us; and not as an individual person that we can communicate with, trust in or get to know. Yet, the inspired Holy Bible teaches in James 4:8-10, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

But before you or anyone can draw near to God, you need to be born again. God loves you dear reader. We are all guilty sinners (Romans 3:10-23). That is why God gave humanity the Old Testament law, as a measuring stick by which when compared, we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:19-23). God sent His only begotten Son into the world, to die as a criminal on Calvary's cross to pay a debt of sin that He did not owe. Jesus paid our debt!

The Bible says that whereas no human being would ever sacrifice their life for an evil person, Jesus did (Romans 5:6-9). God demonstrated His unconditional love for each and every sinner on Calvary's cross. Please don't allow the corrupt New IFB led by hate preacher Steven Anderson to deceive you into thinking that we should hate unrepentant sinners for whom Christ died, human beings created in the very image of God.

Beware Of Modernism's Dismissal Of God's Truth

Modernists are continually trying to undermine God's Word, looking for ways to attribute divine miracles to natural events. Please don't eat the forbidden fruit! Don't take the bait.

It Is Impossible For A Christian To Be Demon Possessed

Luke 13:16, “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?”

Beware of wacky Pentecostals and Charismatics who attribute all evil thoughts, mental issue, sickness and deeds as being caused by demon possession.

I lived on the island of Guam from 2004 to 2021. When I needed major neck surgery in 2009, the senior pastor of Victory Chapel church on Guam rudely and insensitively insulted me. I had come out of a restaurant and met the pastor and two of his female church members. I had a bandage on my neck from the surgery. The pastor cruelly told me that if I had been filled with the Holy Spirit that I wouldn't have needed my neck surgery. That hurt my feelings. What a rotten thing to say to another human being! Unlike him, I am a gentleman and didn't want to rebuke the foolish pastor in front of his church members. Plus, I have never been quick on my toes to respond to situations, so I run the risk of saying things I shouldn't say in frustration, so it is just best for me to stay quite and leave. So, that is what I did, but I've never forgot his ungodly insensitive insult. I don't like Charismatics, because they are arrogant and foolish.

Pentecostals and Charismatics all share three main heresies:

1. Salvation can be lost (which is a works-based counterfeit gospel)
2. Speaking in unbiblical tongues (which has its origin in witchcraft)
3. Fake healing crusades (no faith healer has ever emptied a hospital)

Without these Satanic practices and ideologies their false religion would cease to exist.

The Woman In Luke 13:16 Was Not Demon Possessed

Someone cited this passage of Scripture the other day in an attempt to teach that a Christian can be possessed by a demon. But dear reader, the Bible does not say the woman was demon possessed, it says that “Satan hath bound” her for 18 years.

Concerning Lucifer, we read:

Isaiah 14:13-17, “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?”

Carefully notice the last phrase telling us that Lucifer “opened not the house of his prisoners.” That doesn't mean his prisoners are demon possessed, it means Satan hath bound them, just like the unfortunate woman in Luke 13:16 whom “Satan hath bound” with sickness for 18 miserable years. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

We know that God gave Satan permission to afflict Job's health with painful boils from head to toe. So, with God's permission Satan can cause health problems.

The Apostle Paul Was Not Demon Possessed

The confused man I mentioned earlier also claimed that Paul was demon possessed.

The Apostle Paul wrote in 2nd Corinthians 12:7, “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.” We simply don't know what that messenger of Satan was. Some theologians think it refers to Paul's poor eyesight (Galatians 4:15), but the truth is that we just don't know. The phrase “the messenger of Satan” to me implies that Paul had a difficult enemy. It just doesn't seem plausible to me that poor eyesight, which is a natural part of growing older, would compel Paul to call something like that “the messenger of Satan.” It's definitely a mystery.

But again, the Bible does not tell us that the Apostle Paul was demon possessed. The Bible simply says that the Devil sent a messenger to afflict Paul, which God had allowed. Paul thought that God had given him a “thorn” to keep him humble, after being given an exclusive view into Heaven. Satan would have desired for Paul to be puffed up in pride. So, even though Paul said Satan sent him a messenger, it must have been God's will if it humbled Paul.

We read in 1st Corinthians 3:16-17, Romans 8:9 and 1st John 3:24 that the Christian's body is the literal “temple” of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God. We also learn in Ephesians 1:13-14 that the moment we come as a guilty sinner by faith (taking God at His written Word)—to receive Christ's sacrificial death on the cross as full payment for our sins, believing that He was buried, but then resurrected the third day—we are forever “sealed” with the Holy Spirit. So, there is no way that a saint who is indwelt and sealed with God's Holy Spirit can simultaneously be possessed by a demon(s).

That being said, a Christian believer can be inspired by Satan. That is why in Matthew 16:23 Jesus called the Apostle Peter, “Satan.” Peter was not demon possessed, he had simply allowed some unbiblical thinking to invade his mind that agreed with Satan. Peter didn't want Jesus to go to the cross to die, which is exactly what Satan didn't want either. So, we must always be on guard as God's redeemed children, lest we start thinking like Satan. Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

You Don't Have To Call Or Pray (Ask) To Get To Heaven

John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

I humbly agree with Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) that prayer is not necessary to be saved.

Granted, it is natural for most converts to pray at the time of faith, but the Bible is very clear in Romans 10:14 that we are saved at the moment of FAITH, and not calling or praying (i.e., asking to be saved. When a sinner walks down a church aisle in response to a salvation invitation, they are simply going down front to find out what just happened. They were saved before they even left their pew, at the moment they BELIEVED the Gospel.

Having said that, I am opposed to pastors who require people to walk an aisle to learn how to go to Heaven. Every preacher should tell sinners how to be saved in their pew, regardless of whether they want to come forward. It is a grave sin to add an additional step to God's simple plan of salvation, when God only requires that someone BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST to be saved.

I don't know when I was saved. I didn't think to write it down. I remember a place, an experience and calling upon Jesus in faith to save me around 1979 or 1980. Since I know that I am saved, I do not worry about the year. But everyone should definitely remember a place and a time when you knew that you were a needy sinner, and you put your trust in Jesus as your personal Savior.

I learned a great truth from Pastor Bob Gray Sr. years ago, which is that Jesus does NOT forgive sin. Jesus has already paid for everyone's sins with His precious blood (1st Peter 1:18-19), which is why eternal life is offered to us as a “free gift” (Romans 5:15-18). A gift need only be taken, not merited. Dr. John MacArthur foolishly taught that salvation is an exchange, a trade of sorts. ...

“Thus in a sense we pay the ultimate price for salvation when our sinful self is nailed to a cross. ...It is an exchange of all that we are for all that Christ is. And it denotes implicit obedience, full surrender to the lordship of Christ. Nothing less can qualify as saving faith.” ('The Gospel According to Jesus,' p. 140)

Sadly, John MacArthur (1939-2025) is now burning in Hell forever without hope. His counterfeit plan of salvation that required "full surrender" to Christ's Lordship could not produce the required new birth to enter into God's Kingdom. We see this truth demonstrated in Matthew 7:21-23. They devoutly followed Jesus in dedicated service, but failed to ever rest in the finished redemptive work of Christ.

No, Mr. MacArthur, salvation is NOT an exchange of all that we are for all that Christ is; it is NOT a trade of sorts! It is a FREE GIFT! You don't have to "ask" for a gift, you simply receive it by faith (by taking God at His written Word), to accept Christ's sacrifice on the cross as full payment for your sins, believing that He was buried, but then miraculously resurrected from the dead three days later. This is the true Gospel which saves according to 1st Corinthians 15:1-6.

I do not scold pastors for using the sinner's prayer. Even Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001), who emphasizes in this sermon excerpt that you don't have to pray to get saved, chose to use a sinner's prayer in the Roman's Road presentation of the Gospel. So, I am okay with pastors using the sinner's prayer, providing that they explain it is faith and not prayer that saves a sinner, which is exactly what Brother Hyles is doing in this needful and helpful video excerpt.

When I got saved I worried for several years that I might not be saved. I was fearful because I was focusing on the sinner's prayer. Since I couldn't remember what I had prayed, I just figured I would ask God to save me again, and again, and again, and again for over 10 years, wallowing in needless fear, mental anguish, tears, frustration, uncertainty and worry. No one has ever properly presented God's simple plan of salvation to me. Although I knew that prayer does not save a man, faith does, I still associated getting saved with the sinner's prayer, and that effectively blocked my brain from seeing the simplicity that is in Christ.

God only knows how how people are burning in Hell forever, all because some selfish pastor refused to tell them how to be saved in their pew. The reason why Pastor Younce's book helped me so much is because I was saved in a pew. I had always felt guilty for being too shy to walk forward as a young teenager, wondering if it would have made a difference if I had that day.

In the years to follow I read Chick Tracts and every piece of religious literature I could get my hands on, searching for answers to settle my ongoing struggle with the assurance of God's free gift of salvation. I have not doubted my salvation in decades, because I now by God's wondrous grace fully comprehend His great plan of salvation. I gleaned this great quote from Brother Younce: "Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith." I love that truth!

So, I do not use the sinner's prayer, nor do I recommend that others use it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with accompanying one's faith with a sinner's prayer, which is essentially asking God to save you, and that is just fine. However, I do take offense and stand firmly against those preachers today who insist that you cannot be saved without praying or calling (asking) to go to Heaven. No such requirement is taught in the inspired King James Bible.

My ministry friend Onorato (Norm) Diamante on YouTube has been verbally attacked (by a particular pastor in Texas), called an "idiot" and "a child of the Devil" for faithfully preaching the biblical truth that you don't have to pray to be saved. Well, Pastor Jack Hyles and myself agree with Onorato.

There is no mention of the 3,000 sinners who were saved on the Day of Pentecost praying or asking to be saved, they simply "gladly received" Peter's Gospel message (Acts 2:41) and were born again.

Nor is there any mention of Cornelius and his companions calling, praying or asking to be saved, they simply believed the GOOD NEWS that they heard preached unto them and were converted (Acts 10:43-44; Galatians 3:2). Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.

I have heard numerous preachers down play this issue, asking what's the big deal. But they are the one's making it a big deal, by denying that you can get to Heaven without asking, calling or praying to be saved. What saith the Scripture? 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟲:𝟰𝟳, “𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝗜 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗛𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.”

And although Jesus did invite the Samaritan woman in John 4:10 to "ask" Him for the Living Water, there is not one mention in the remainder of the chapter about any of the Samaritans asking Jesus to save them. There is no mention of anyone "asking" to be saved, they simply believed on the dear Savior and were saved. Here is what we read...

John 4:39-42, “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.”

Let me give you a good illustration. Let's say that it is your birthday and I mail you a birthday present. It arrives by UPS on your birthday and you are holding the gift in your hands with excitement, anticipating what might be inside. Oh boy! Would you call me on the phone, or send me an email, asking if you can open your gift? No, of course not, that would be silly! So what in the world makes someone think that receiving a gift from God is any different? Why would you need to pray to ask God for a gift that He is already freely offering you?

In the cases of the 3,000 Jews saved at Pentecost in Acts 2, and Cornelius and his friends in Acts 10, and the Roman jailer in Acts 16:30-31—there is no mention of anyone "asking" to be saved, they simply believed on the dear Savior and were saved. Shame on any pastor who tries to make you feel bad or stupid for simply believing that faith is enough to get to Heaven.

Blasphemy! Dear reader, what is so hard about getting saved? The inspired Holy Bible says eternal life is a “free gift” (Romans 5:15-18). Jesus said in John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” What is so hard about that?

Charles Lawson preaches with zeal and authority. I have listened to his sermons for years. Yet, he is wrong on repentance and God's simple plan of salvation.

A Changed Life Is The “Fruit” Of The Indwelling Holy Spirit, Not Repentance Or Salvation

According to Lawson, repentance is not the root of salvation, but the fruit of salvation. That is WRONG! A changed life is the “fruit” of the indwelling Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25), which has nothing to do with the new birth. To say that repentance is the fruit of salvation is to mandate that if your life doesn't change, you're not really saved, and that is exactly what Pastor Lawson foolishly teaches.

One of the most helpful sermons you'll ever hear is by Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) titled, “Your Salvation Did Not Change You A Bit.” Dr. Hyles likens getting saved to a real estate transaction in which a property has exchanged ownership. In the case of salvation, ownership has changed from Satan to God. We are now God's property. But when you acquire ownership of any property it needs to be renovated. Just because you purchase a building and some property doesn't change it's appearance or interior design. You must renovate it! Likewise, the Holy Spirit begins to work in a believer's life to renew our mind with the inspired Word of God (1st Peter 2:2; Romans 12:1-2), and that takes time. If that individual person does not attend a local Bible-believing church, they will not grow. This is why Jesus in The Great Commission included mentoring new converts, teaching them whatsoever things Christ has taught us (Matthew 28:19-20).

The inspired King James Bible plainly says in Galatians 5:25, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Now, if repentance is a fruit of salvation as Lawson errantly teaches, then why would the Bible command us to WALK IN THE SPIRIT? When you get born again you are alive in the Holy Spirit, but if you don't choose to walk in that Spirit day by day as God's redeemed child, by default you will WALK IN THE FLESH. Galatians 5:25 is proof that just because you are saved doesn't guarantee that you will walk in the Spirit to live a changed life. Repentance in the life of a Christian is produced by the “fruit” of the Holy Spirit, and is NOT an automatic result of salvation. Those preachers who fail to understand this biblical truth fall into the traps of Lordship Salvation and Misunderstood Repentance.

Pastor Lawson Is A Dangerous False Prophet

At best Lawson is very confusing. In his sermon “Repentance” he mentions two infamous serial killers (David Berkowitz “Son of Sam” and Karla Faye Tucker) and how they allegedly found Christ in prison. He uses them as showcase examples of how all sinners should react when they get saved, which is ridiculous and unscriptural. It is clear that Pastor Lawson is implying that every convert should react to the Gospel in the same radical way that these two serial killers did. Dear reader, the only thing you need to know to be saved is that you are a needy hell-deserving guilty sinner and that Jesus is the only Savior who was crucified to pay for your sins, was buried and resurrected from the dead three days later (i.e., the Gospel).

Now, Pastor Lawson is a very confused and confusing man. At no place in his sermon does he bother to tell you what is so wrong with Easy-Believism, except that he thinks it means to pray a sinner's prayer. I am sick and tired of corrupt preachers attacking the sinner's prayer. There is absolutely nothing wrong with praying a sinner's prayer. But you don't get saved by praying, asking or calling, you get saved by BELIEVING THE GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ crucified, buried and risen from the dead. It's difficult to know what Charles Lawson is talking about because he just foolishly attacks Easy-Believism without explaining hardly anything. What an incompetent preacher!!! I said Pastor Charles Lawson is INCOMPETENT!!!

Easy-Believism is 100% biblical and right! It is free, simple and easy to be saved through just BELIEVING that Jesus did it all for you. Now here is a heretical statement that he makes...

“Repentance in your life is God's way of letting you know that you have saving faith, and not just a bunch of stuff you believe up here. Somebody says some mumbo-jumbo over you, or gets you wet in some pool somewhere, or confirms you, or you prayed the sinner's prayer, and everybody assured you that you're a Christian, but deep down inside your soul you know you're just as dead as you've always been; nothing has changed. But if repentance begins to blossom (and this is important), you're going to do far more repenting after you get saved than that day when you're praying for God to save you. For once the Holy Ghost moves into your soul, you're really going to see what you're made out of.” —Pastor Charles Lawson, “Repentance” (Sunday morning service at Temple Baptist Church in Knoxville; preached on April 8, 2018)

Now, that sounds great to the unlearned Bible student, but it is totally unbiblical. Lawson is confusing repentance with the Holy Spirit. He pounds home the idea that you must repent of your sins and turn away from them as part of getting saved, but then he mentions the Holy Spirit. Dear reader, which is it? The work of the indwelling Holy Spirit is something VERY DIFFERENT than our human efforts to turn away from our sinful ways. Lawson fails to make a distinction.

Although I agree that Catholic confirmation and water baptism do not save a sinner, I take issue with his horrible attack against the sinner's prayer. Even though prayer does not save someone, if a sinner prays from a BELIEVING HEART, they are saved according to Romans 10:14, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” Even before someone calls upon the Lord they are already saved, the moment that they BELIEVED. You need to understand that Charles Lawson DOESN'T believe this to be true. Lawson foolishly thinks that you must turn from your sins to get to Heaven. Honestly, the guy has no formal theological training, which shows in his utter ignorance of the Holy Bible. I say this kindly to be honest and to warn others, lest you end up in Hell with him and his cult.

There is no guarantee just because you get saved that your life is going to radically change for righteousness. The idea that you must feel a profound hatred for your sins, experience guilt and have an earnest desire to turn from your sins is NOT what it means to repent to be saved. In fact, what Pastor Lawson is preaching is by every definition, LORDSHIP SALVATION!!!

The Greek noun for “repent” in the New Testament is metanoia, which simply means “to change your mind,” period. Since we don't know what to change our mind about, we need supplemental information, which can only be determined by the text of a particular passage. For example: The Bible says in Jonah 3:10 that God Himself “repented.” It is clear from the text that the LORD changed His mind not to destroy Nineveh. If repent means to turn away from your sins as Charles Lawson, Pensacola Christian College and other infidels today errantly teach, then how could God repent of sin? God is holy and cannot sin! God just changed His mind, which is all that the word “repent” means, nothing more.

Easy-Believism Is Not Wrong!

In his corrupt sermon “Repentance,” Pastor Lawson refutes two alleged heresies:

1. Easy-Believism
2. Lordship Salvation

Pastor Lawson describes a very radical definition of Lordship Salvation which requires obeying all of God's commandment in order to validate one's faith. That is what the Seventh-Day Adventist cult believe, a radical form of Lordship Salvation. But most forms of Lordship Salvation today are much more subtle. I like how Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold describes Lordship Salvation...

“Lordship Salvation is the unsupportable and unbiblical belief that the performance of good works, the promise of good works, or the evidence of good works, must accompany faith in Christ to establish or provide evidence that such faith has resulted in eternal life.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, “Jesus Versus John MacArthur”

Charles Lawson's corrupt plan of salvation is absolutely Lordship Salvation, even though he refuses to admit it. I shared with you his earlier horrible statement in which he calls Easy-Believism “an abomination to God.” An abomination to God? Whoa! What a darn fool! Lawson is a confused man, caught between grace and works. Dear friend, I challenge you to show me anything in the inspired King James Bible that says getting saved is difficult or hard. You cannot. Jesus likened getting saved in John 4:10 to drinking a cup of water. Jesus likened getting saved in John 10:9 with walking through a door. Jesus likened getting saved in John 6:53 with eating some bread. Jesus likened getting saved in John 3:14-16 with looking at a serpent on a pole. Getting saved is free, simple and easy, which is why we call it 'EASY-BELIEVISM!' So, what in tarnation is Pastor Charles Lawson talking about?

In the Gospel of John we find the word “believe” mentioned 85 times with no mention of the word “repent.” That speaks volumes! Pastor Lawson in his sermon says that Jesus continually preached about repentance, but that simply is not true. Sure, Jesus did preach about repentance at times, but there are ten times more passages in the inspired Word of God where Jesus simply said to simply “BELIEVE ON HIM” without any mention whatsoever about repenting. The reason why is obvious, because repentance is an automatic thing. The man who believes has repented; the man who repents has believed. THAT IS EASY-BELIEVISM!!!

Pastor Curtis Hutson Well Explains Luke 13:1-5

Dr. Curtis Hutson explains Luke 13:5 and gets it 100% correct:

In Luke 13:5 Jesus said, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” The context of this verse shows that they needed to repent or change their mind regarding punishment and sin. In this passage, Christ was talking to good people who believed that people suffered only because of their sins, and they concluded that those in Galilee whose blood Pilate mingled with sacrifices and those on whom the tower of Siloam fell were greater sinners because they died such horrible deaths. Jesus contradicts the thinking of these self-righteous people and tells them that they need to repent or change their mind and see themselves as sinners, too, or they will perish in their own self-righteousness.

One does not have to know the Greek language to see that “repent” in this passage does not mean feeling sorry for or turning from sin.

So, we see that it is very easy to take a passage of Scripture out of context. I can do all things through a Bible verse taken out of context!

I am not trying to be unkind, God knows my heart, but Pastor Lawson just doesn't know what he is doing theologically. He should have stayed an automobile mechanic, because he is a lousy preacher. I'm sure he loves his church members and they love him after 48 years, but he is a dangerous false teacher and in that regard he is a bad pastor.

I have heard Pastor Lawson wickedly attack Pastor Jack Hyles, quoting from Brother Hyles' chapter titled: 'Lordship Salvation: An Enemy Of Soul Winning,' falsely accusing Dr. Hyles of leaving off repentance. Nothing could be further from the truth! Dr. Hyles just didn't go along with the damnable heresy that says you must forsake a lifestyle of sinning to be saved, or to prove that you are saved. To do so would be the heresy of Lordship Salvation!

But if we were to examine the exterior lives of the false teachers in Matthew 7:21-23, they did “many wonderful works” in Jesus' name, preached (prophesied) in Jesus' name, and called Jesus “Lord, Lord,” but Jesus denied knowing them as His sheep, and they went to Hell forever. They failed to do the WILL OF THE FATHER, which according to John 6:40 is simply to BELIEVE ON JESUS. Nowhere does the Bible require repenting of your sins to be saved!

Charles Lawson Is A Clever Deceiver

The fact that Charles Lawson said that Lordship Salvation is wrong makes his false gospel even more deceiving. I heard a spiritually blind guy say that Charles Lawson doesn't preach Lordship Salvation. And I suspect the reason why is that by saying Lordship Salvation is wrong, it looks like Charles Lawson is right simply because he is correct that Lordship Salvation is wrong. It looks like he preaches right on repentance, when in actuality he's wrong in his own views, and does in fact preach Lordship Salvation himself. 

Dr. John MacArthur (1939-2025) didn't say Lordship Salvation is wrong. That's what makes John MacArthur's falsehood of the gospel more obvious. But by Pastor Lawson saying that Lordship Salvation is wrong, while he is preaching it too, provides a cover for his deception. It was 33rd degree Freemason Manly P. Hall (1901-1990) who rightly said: “The best place to hide a lie is between two truths.” Manly Hall also eloquently rightly said: “The most effective lie is the half-truth because in part it can be defended with incontestable logic.” This Luciferian man well understood the art of lying and deception, which tactics Charles Lawson is using.

Being closer to the truth without the truth is more deceitful because it looks genuine.

Easy-Believism Is The Gospel

Kindly said, Charles Lawson is extremely wrong and foolish to deny Easy-Believism and denounce it as “an abomination to God.” What a terrible pastor for teaching that it is not easy to get to Heaven. He is so confused that he cannot even adequately explain what he is trying to convey. Are there some insincere people who merely pray some “Jesus prayer” and never really get saved? Why of course! But such cases are rare in my humble opinion.

On the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter two 3,000 Jews simply “gladly received” (Acts 2:41) Peter's Gospel message and were instantly saved and added to the church. No one was interrogated to see if they were sincere. No one was monitored for 6 months to see if their behavior changed. They were baptized in water right away, as a public profession of their new found faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no mention of anyone praying, they simply believed what they heard. I supposed Charles Lawson has a problem with that too!

But Jesus did invite the Samaritan woman to pray a sinner's prayer in John 4:10, to “ask” Him for the Living Water of eternal life. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the sinner's prayer, and I disrespect Pastor Lawson for criticizing it. Pastor Lawson can pretend that he is not in the same boat as Pastor John MacArthur (1939-2025) and Dr. R.C. Sproul (1939-2017), the godfathers of Lordship Salvation today, but he is just as guilty as those wicked men.

It is very inappropriate to label people who make light of getting saved, or insincerely go through the outward motions of Christianity without ever being born again, as “Easy-Believism,” which is what Charles Lawson is sinfully doing. You can definitely call such people “False Converts” or better yet, “Tares” (as the Bible calls them).

But there is nothing difficult or hard about getting born again. It is a free gift, which even Pastor Lawson acknowledges in his sermon “Repentance.” And he is dead wrong that believing the Gospel in your mind is insufficient to be saved unless a changed life goes along with it. ...

I hope you clearly see the fallacy and danger of his false teachings. According to Pastor Lawson your faith is invalid unless you've experienced a radical change of behavior and attitude in your life (which he errantly mistakes to mean repentance). That is 100% Lordship Salvation, which he fails to realize or else won't admit. He is combining service with salvation. He is mixing discipleship with sonship. The two must never meet, just like positive and negative battery cables! It is tragic that we've got a bunch of loud-mouthed arrogant fools behind church pulpits today, who are unlearned and wrest the Word of God to their own destruction, and the doom of their victims who follow them into perdition.
