Beware Of Pastor Steven Anderson's Unbiblical Reprobate Doctrine

There is a damaging unbiblical false teaching going around in New IFB (New Independent Fundamental Baptist) churches today, which errantly says that God hates homosexuals and has given up on them ever being saved. Consequently, the New IFB falsely teach that homosexuals are “reprobates” who are beyond the hope of the Gospel, so New IFB members refuse to make any effort to preach the Gospel to gay people.

New Hope Ministries is the continuation of the work of Frank and Anita Worthen. Both Anita and Frank’s testimonies are available for you to read online. The work began way back in 1973 when Frank, at 44 years old, recommitted his life to Jesus Christ. Over the next few years he founded the former Love In Action (LIA), one of the largest and oldest ex-gay ministries in the world (no longer in existence). He was also one of the founding fathers of Exodus International North America in 1976 (no longer in existence), which was a world-wide umbrella ministry setting the standard for all ministries helping homosexuals walk free through the power of Jesus Christ. Exodus was replaced by Restored Hope Network. In 2012 Frank once again stepped to the forefront of ministry and became one of the founders of Restored Hope Network.

This man and his wife were both homosexuals, but they came to Jesus Christ and forsook that wicked deathstyle, and then started their own ministry to help other homosexuals also come to Christ. So, please don't dare tell me that there is no hope for homosexuals!!!

I love Pastor Anderson, but he has greatly hindered his ministry and hurt the cause of Christ by hating one class of sinners. Jesus said that He came to save men, not destroy them (Luke 9:55-56). One of the most common topics that my web visitors have asked me about is the “Reprobate Doctrine,” which has been popularized in recent years by Pastor Steven Anderson. I humbly do not agree with Pastor Anderson's views on this doctrine.

Homosexuality Is Not Okay With God, It Is Wickedness

Let me clarify, homosexuality is a sin worthy of death under Old Testament law (Leviticus 20:13). So also is kidnapping, adultery and other serious crimes in God's sight. If you think that homosexuality is rooted in love, and that the government has no business interfering with the lifestyle they choose to live, then you are not right with the holy God of the Holy Bible. Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” The Bible says in 1st John 5:19b that “the whole world lieth in wickedness...” The world has always been the enemy of God and against the cause of Jesus Christ.

Dear reader, there is no middle ground on this important issue. You either believe the inspired Word of God, which condemns all sexual immorality and homosexuality as sin (Romans 1:24-32; Colossians 3:5-6; Jude 1:7); or else you are a rebel against God.

We Should Unconditionally Love Homosexuals, But Not Accept Their Sin

We should never accept the sin with the sinner, nor reject the sinner with the sin. I am 100% against Pastor Steven Anderson and his followers in the New IFB, saying that they are glad to hear when anybody is murdered. That is a horrible unchristlike attitude! What saith the Scripture? Ezekiel 18:32, “For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.” God never rejoices when the vilest sinner perishes in their sin. 2nd Peter 3:9 plainly states, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” God desires for ALL humanity to get saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ.

Here is a powerful quote from Pastor E.M. Bounds (1835-1913):

'The world' includes the mass of humanity that is alienated from God and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ. It involves worldly affairs, earthly things, riches, pleasures, and pursuits that are shallow, frail, and fleeting. These things stir desire, draw us away from God, and are obstacles to the cause of Christ. The divorced or torn relationships between heaven and earth, between God and His creatures, finds its expression in the term 'the world.'” —Pastor Edward M. Bound, a quote from chapter 7 - “Overcoming The Enemy Of God,” from the classic book titled: “GUIDE TO SPIRITUAL WARFARE”

I really love that quote, which I first read 35 years ago. Those in society today who support homosexuals having rights to get married and legally adopt children are the enemies of God. James 4:4, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” I do not hate any living soul, certainly not homosexuals; however, I do strongly reject the homosexual agenda, which includes their ungodly efforts to coerce the courts through media intimidation and political pressure to further their wickedness.

Job 20:5, “That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?” God will not be mocked, all sin will be punished (Ecclesiastes 12:14; Romans 1:32; 1st Corinthians 6:9-11). Thankfully, there is hope through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 5:9). The sin of homosexuality won't keep you out of Heaven, if you receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, believing that He was buried and then bodily resurrected after three days. This is "the Gospel" (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). But you must admit that your homosexuality is a sin in the sight of a holy God. No one will ever be saved who denies that homosexuality is a wicked sin, because you need to know what you're being saved from, which is sin and the penalty of sin (Romans 3:19-20; Revelation 21:8).

The “Reprobate Doctrine” itself teaches that there is a line an unbeliever can cross, where God no longer deals with that person's heart about getting saved, and they are beyond hope. Although it is true that a person who rejects the Gospel runs the risk of never hearing the truth of the Gospel again, I do not believe that God deliberately wants anybody to perish in their sins and go to Hell forever. Pastor Anderson defines a “reprobate” as someone who is incapable of believing the Gospel.

Although I agree that an unbeliever's heart can become so hardened that the truth is no longer effective (e.g., Pharaoh in Moses' time), I do not believe it is because God has willingly hardened their heart because He hates them. The Lord wants all men to be saved (2nd Peter 3:9). The problem is not that homosexuals are incapable of believing the Gospel to be saved; but rather, Jesus said, “ye will not come to me, that ye might have life” (John 5:40).

Refuting The Unbiblical Reprobate Doctrine

Pensacola Christian College Teaches Same Wrong Repentance As Church Of Christ Cult

Mark 7:7-9, “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.”

Acts 15:1, “And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.”

In his YouTube presentation titled, “WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?,” Church of Christ Pastor Don Blackwell errantly teaches that repentance unto salvation includes three things:

1. a change of mind
2. godly sorrow
3. a change of life (fruit of repentance)

Kindly, Mr. Blackwell makes the same theological error that so many other Bible students make, which is to expand on the simple biblical meaning of “repent” (Greek noun: metanoia) concerning salvation, which means “a change of mind. Pastor Blackwell is guilty of embellishing the true meaning of repentance in the Bible. The Greek verb form of “repent” is metanoeo, which means “to think differently.”

The Bible does not require sorrow over sins to be saved. Sorrow is not repentance, it is penitence. I love this helpful quote from Pastor Brad Strand...

True repentance has nothing to do with “turning from sin” and everything to do with “acknowledging one's sinfulness” (Jonah 3:5). Like the thief on the cross who simply acknowledged his sinfulness (Lk 23:39-43), the only part a person has in salvation is the beggar's part.

In the aforementioned video, Pastor Blackwell defines repentance as: “a change of mind produced by godly sorrow resulting in a change of life.” Sadly, that is the same damnable heresy taught at Pensacola Christian College (PCC) today. According to Campus Church at PCC (see screenshot below), “Repentance is a change of mind resulting in a change of behavior.” That is not the biblical meaning of repentance to get to Heaven. Sorrow is an emotion (feelings) that develop over time AFTER a sinner is saved. As a new believer grows in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ (2nd Peter 3:18), God gives the feelings. This has nothing to do with being saved itself, which is a free gift (Romans 5:18).

Repentance doesn't require “a change of life” as Don Blackwell and Pensacola Christian College (PCC) errantly teach. ...

Again, Church of Christ pastor, Don Blackwell, defines repentance exactly the same as PCC, saying: “a change of mind produced by godly sorrow resulting in a change of life.” As I have just shown you dear friend, that is the same damnable heresy taught at Pensacola Christian College (PCC) today. May I say truthfully, genuine repentance results in believing the Gospel, it doesn't result in a change of behavior. Behavior modification is NOT part of the new birth, not can it be at any time in order for eternal life to remain a free gift from God. Romans 5:18. “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” I love that, the Bible even calls eternal life “the free gift”!!!

Pastor Jack Hyles, in his classic sermon titled, "A Burden Versus A Call," rightly explains in the following excerpt that the proper order of getting saved is: FACTS, then FAITH, then FEELINGS. First you have to know the facts. Then you have to put your faith (reliance) in those facts. And then after you are saved God gives you the feelings.

The Bible plainly teaches in Romans 3:19, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” All that God requires of someone to be saved concerning repentance is that you become guilty before God. You've got to know what you're being saved from. You are a guilty sinner and there is a penalty for those sins (Romans 6:23), which is death. This includes the second death where you will burn in Hell forever (Revelation 20:11-15, 21:8). When you repent, you change your mind from what you want to do to get to Heaven, to what God says you must do to get to Heaven. Hebrews 6:1 calls this “repentance from DEAD WORKS.”

A changed life is the fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit, if we walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” If a lost sinner comes to Christ and gets saved, but then doesn't choose to Walk in the Spirit, they will languish in carnality and sin, but that has nothing to do with their eternal security. One saved, always saved!!! To have eternal life is to have eternal security. They are the same doctrine!

I am very disappointed and disgusted with the Sword Of The Lord in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, because they are wickedly bidding Godspeed to PCC in their publication each month. When Dr. John R. Rice  started the Sword, it was with the intent to fight the good fight of faith. Dr. Rice wasn't correct in all his doctrinal positions. For example: He taught that Brooke Westcott and Fenton Hort (who are considered the fathers of every modern Bible revision) were saved  and sincere men. We know for a fact today that they were unsaved reprobates. Pastor Max D. Younce (1935-2023) exposes Westcott and Hort for the infidels they really were (this shocking information should send chills down your spine). I fully agree with this helpful definition of Lordship Salvation by Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold...

“Lordship Salvation is the unsupportable and unbiblical belief that the performance of good works, the promise of good works, or the evidence of good works, must accompany faith in Christ to establish or provide evidence that such faith has resulted in eternal life.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, “Jesus Versus John MacArthur”

If a changed life is necessary for the new birth, then eternal life absolutely cannot be called a “free gift” (Romans 5:18). Tragically, what Don Blackwell and PCC are errantly teaching is exactly what Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Roman Catholics and Seventh-Day Adventists falsely teach about repentance, all requiring that YOU turn from your sinful behavior to get to Heaven. The true Gospel always points you to CHRIST; a false gospel always points to YOU.

My friend, salvation is a new birth—a supernatural miracle of God in response to a man's faith in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:12-13). Salvation is instant, just as the physical birth is instant. You get saved immediately by faith in Christ (which is justification - Galatians 3:26), but becoming Christlike takes a lifetime (which is sanctification and service - Romans 12:1). One thing has nothing to do with the other. God wants every human being to make two decisions:

1. SALVATION - The first decision is whether you will receive the only begotten Son (John 3:16), Jesus, the Christ (John 20:31), as your personal Savior (John 1:12-13).
2. SERVICE - And then for those who do receive Him as Savior, God wants you to decide to become Jesus' disciple, to follow Him as Lord no matter what the cost, to pick up your cross and serve Him all your life (Romans 12:1-3). This second decision is NOT necessary, required or allowed to be saved. Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.

My favorite preacher quote is from Pilgrim's Progress book author, John Bunyan...

“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” —John Bunyan (1628-1688)

Bravo John Bunyan! In other words, we absolutely must maintain theological separation between SERVICE and SALVATION, because they are two different matters. I love the following helpful quote from Pastor M.R. DeHaan (1891-1965)...

"There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness." —Pastor M.R. DeHaan, “Hebrews”; Zondervan Publishing House; 1959 (p. 117)

Oh how I wish and pray that today's incompetent pastors would begin to study, so that they could rightly divide the Word of Truth (2nd Timothy 2:15).

Tragically, most preachers succumb to ecclesiastical peer pressure. That is, most preachers are reluctant to stray away from what most other preachers are preaching, lest they be rejected, ridiculed and shunned as being ignorant. Sadly, the common consensus today is that repentance means to turn away from your sinful past ways, to commit to stop living a lifestyle of sinning anymore, and to submit to follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins (that last statement is an exact quote from PCC's Campus Church). That may sound good to the carnally-minded man, but it is totally unbiblical.

I opened the envelope and inside I found a booklet of John & Romans. The booklet has 64 pages in it. The Campus Church logo is printed on the front cover. I was shocked on page 60 when I read PCC's counterfeit plan of salvation. What I am about to show you is straight from Satan dear reader:

“REPENTANCE — Now is the time to turn from your sin and embrace God. The act of turning away from sin is called 'repentance.' This word implies an inward decision to follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins. It means changing your mind about sin and seeing it as something that grieves God. Many preachers are teaching a false plan of salvation today, turning salvation into a reward, an exchange or a process. Dr. Steve Pettit at BJU has sinfully turned going to Heaven into a process. This is commonly known as the heresy of “The Perseverance of the Saints,” popularized by Dr. John MacArthur and originally taught by heretic John Calvin (1509-1564). Salvation is received, not achieved. Eternal life is a free gift, paid for by Jesus' precious literal blood, which has been sprinkled on the Mercy Seat in Heaven (Hebrews 9:12, 22-24; 10:1, 12:24).

I am saddened that the pseudo-Christian cults have infiltrated the Bibles colleges who train tomorrow's church pastors. PCC sends out thousands of incompetent graduates to corrupt and destroy churches with a counterfeit gospel. Turning from your sinful bad habits is not a part of the simplicity that is in Christ. True repentance has nothing to do with “turning from sin” and everything to do with “acknowledging one's sinfulness” (Jonah 3:5). PCC gets repentance wrong, agreeing with the hellbound Church of Christ cult. Woe unto the PCC cult.

God knows that I love everybody at PCC and Campus Church, but they don't love God or truth. They are worshipping God in vain in their manmade doctrine and false hope of eternal life. Mark 7:7 and 9, “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. ...Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.” PCC are merely playing church, leading people into Hell with a false gospel.

Pastor Anderson admirably exposes the Devil's rotten Bible versions, whereas PCC wickedly bids Godspeed to the toxic Bob Jones cult and their multiple corrupt Bible revisions. Pastor Anderson rightly preaches the truth about 'Repentance & Salvation.'

I feel sick! The cult at PCC are aggressively spreading their damnable heresy throughout Pensacola, mailing spiritual poison to people's mailboxes. With neighbour's like Campus Church at PCC, who needs an enemy like the Devil? PCC has much blood on their hands! Dear friend, nowhere in the inspired King James Bible does it teach that you must repent “of your sin” or “turn from your sin” to get to Heaven. Yet, PCC and their Campus Church arrogantly have changed God's simple plan of salvation, perverting Bible repentance to mean, “follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins.” Oh my! That is the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation!!!

Shame on Campus Church and PCC! My accurate Bible preaching against PCC's apostasy will be vindicated. Campus Church just mailed ammunition to my home mailbox today, revealing their underbelly so that by God's grace I can further expose their dangerous religious cult at PCC. I wrote this article to help teach people what true Bible repentance is. Dear reader, you cannot be born-again if you place your trust in a counterfeit Gospel. What PCC and their Campus Church are preaching is another gospel, not the free grace of God, which is without works. As I read further in PCC's rotten plan of salvation, just like the pseudo-Christian cults (Mormons, Roman Catholics, Seventh-Day Adventists, et cetera), they speak out of both sides of their mouth—claiming that salvation is free and by grace, yet at the same time requiring you to “follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins.”

To make matters even worse, on page 62 of the “John & Romans” booklet, Campus Church tells the reader that to be saved, you must make a mental check requiring the reader to agree to:

“I repent of my sins. I realize that sin is something that God hates and I no longer want to hold onto sinful bad habits.”

Oh My! Folks, this is NOT a part of the Gospel which the Apostle Paul preached in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4...

1st Corinthians15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.”

There you have it! The “Gospel” is the “GOOD NEWS” that Jesus Christ DIED on a cross for our sins, He was BURIED and after three days He physically RESURRECTED from the dead. In Paul's Gospel (which Paul said he received directly from Jesus in Galatians 1:12), did you see anything that reads: “follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins”? No, that is not what Paul taught. So why is PCC and their Campus Church promoting this filth?

The only requirement to believe the Gospel is to know why you need to be saved? You need to know what you're being saved from. You are a guilty sinner, and so am I. No one has ever lived who didn't sin (Romans 3:10-23), except Jesus (Hebrews 4:15). He is the perfect sinless Lamb of God (John 1:29). The Bible teaches and warns that the wages we earn from our sinning is death (Romans 5:12, 6:23). This includes a second death in Hell, fire and brimstone forever (Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8). If you admit by faith to God that you are a guilty sinner deserving of Hell, then that is all you need to know to believe the GOOD NEWS that Jesus Christ died on a cross to pay for your sins, was buried and three days later He bodily raised up from the dead for your justification. BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS, oh sinner, and you are saved!

Thank you for reading dear friend. By God's grace I will continue to contend for the Christian faith. “REPENTANCE — Now is the time to turn from your sin and embrace God. The act of turning away from sin is called 'repentance.' This word implies an inward decision to follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins. It means changing your mind about sin and seeing it as something that grieves God. THAT IS NOT THE GOSPEL!!! Please read, “What Is The Gospel?,” by Pastor Harry Ironside (1876-1951), who gets the Gospel 100% correct. I earlier quoted to you 1st Corinthians 15:1-4, which defines “the gospel.” Also, I recommend reading Michael P. Bowen's very helpful book, “I NEVER KNEW YOU.”

Yes, you do need to repent to be saved, but repentance is simply a change of mind. The Bible says that you are a guilty sinner (Romans 3:10-23). The Bible says there is a penalty for sin, which is death (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 9:27), including the second death in Hell (Revelation 20:11-15, 21:8). The Bible says that Jesus is the Christ, the only begotten (biological) Son of God (John 20:31). The Bible says Jesus died on a cross to pay for everyone's sins, He was buried and then physically resurrected from the dead three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). If you agree with these biblical facts and trust them to get to Heaven, you are saved. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Nowhere in the inspired King James Bible does it tell us to turn from THE ACT of sin to get to Heaven, or that we must FOLLOW and OBEY God's will instead of our self-serving sins to be saved (which is the Devil's lie of Lordship[ Salvation). PCC is a dangerous theological cult! This is a serious matter theologically. "RIGHT DOCTRINE MATTERS!," a truthful phrase that my ministry friend Pastor Max D. Younce (1935-2023) used quite a bit in his preaching. Today's preachers have a ho-hum attitude, indifferent, about doctrinal corruption, dismissing it as mere semantics, but it is far from mere semantics when institutions like PCC are requiring people to turn from "the act" of sin to be saved, which is 100% works.

If someone like PCC would have lied to me when I was 13 years old, and told me that to get to Heaven I have to turn from “THE ACT” of sinning, I never would have come to Jesus Christ to be saved, because I would have felt that I couldn't make such a commitment to do the impossible. PCC has blood on their hands, and now so does the Sword Of The Lord for bidding them Godspeed. 2nd John 1:11, “For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

Kindly said, if you don't see how PCC's unbiblical requirements pervert the free grace Gospel taught in the inspired Holy Bible, then you need to get saved friend before it is too late! In fact, biblically, you don't have to perform "THE ACT" (works) of turning from your sinful behavior to be saved!!! You don't have to commit to FOLLOW and OBEY God's will instead of living in SIN to get to Heaven (that's the false doctrine of Lordship Salvation). Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins, He doesn't demand that you try to forsake them in exchange to seal the deal. Turning from sin is a work of the indwelling Holy Spirit AFTER you get saved (Galatians 5:22-25). It is a matter of SERVICE (Romans 12:1) and not SALVATION (Galatians 3:26). PCC is Satanic today, pulling on the same rope as the Devil. If your church supports PCC, then SHAME on you too!!! RIGHT DOCTRINE MATTERS!!!

The Devil changes the truth of the Gospel a little at a time, until it is no longer able to save anyone. Proverbs 22:28, “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.” I won't shut up for God! If that means making more enemies and going to war with more churches, so be it! God is on my side. You cannot show me one verse in the inspired King James Bible, to support that tommyrot, balderdash, poppycock, crap that PCC is wickedly teaching today. SHAME on the Sword Of The Lord.

I have already contacted the Sword about this. I guess I'll be exposing them from now on too!!! So be it. I won't be quiet, because people are going to Hell, missing out on the new birth because they have been lied to by PCC, given a false hope; and tragically stupid local pastors support this.
